Pinch, punch, first of the month!! May already!! This is going to be one busy month with Coralie and Johns wedding and several birthdays. An expensive month too!
Guess what? The meal we should have had last night didn't happen! I got myself all glammed up and we set of just after half seven. We arrived at the pub and there was no one there. We asked if they had a booking for Walton school but was told no. We asked Matt who works there and is an ex student if he had seen any of the Walton school staff and he said no.
Simon tried to phone the only person whose number he had on his mobile phone. He got hold of him because he was at home sick, he did confirm that he thought it was the Paul Pry. Simon then figured that maybe he had the venue wrong and it must be at the Green Man, another local place where they have often gone before.
We went there, but again there was no one. We decided at that point that the best thing to do was to go home and find some phone numbers to ring. The first phone number went to voice mail. The second number he tried was the home number for Liz the technician. She was out..........probably with everyone else, we just didn't know where.
We were just debating what to do when Liz rung up. They were all in the Paul Pry where we had gone at seven thirty! Apparently Matt had seen them after we left and told them that we had been in. They were sitting in a conservatory bit right round the back that we never knew existed!! Simon asked if they had started eating only to be told that no one was eating, as it was just a drinks night!
At that point, I decided not to go as I didn't fancy just drinking and I was hungry. Simon went off on his own. Guess what? When he came home he announced that he had eaten as lots of them decided they were hungry so they may as well have a meal!!!! Simon has promised that we can go out for a meal at the weekend. I have told him that next time he tells me about one of these "Do's" I am not going to go unless he gets Liz to write all the relevant details down on a bit of paper and he can bring it home to me, like a note from the teacher!! LOL!
Just before we went out last night Coralie came round to show me her wedding dress which had just had it's final alteration. She was a bit worried as it would seem that she has grown since last Saturday when the final measurements were done. The dress itself fits but because "Bob" has grown outwards it has made the dress shorter at the front!
She already has totally flat shoes so I'm not sure what we can do. She doesn't want her shoes to be showing, but if they are she wants to have some heels. We have decided that she will try it on again next Thursday and if we decide that it needs new shoes we will have 2 days left to go and find some!! Hopefully that won't happen as those 2 days are already very busy days with various appointments for hair and nails etc..
Today is fairly mild with no rain so far. I have walked up to the post office to post some photos to my Dad of little Ellie. I got a really cute little T shirt with 2 pairs of matching shorts for Ellie in Sainsburys, only £4, bargain!! I can't resist picking up little bits and pieces for her.
Today I have got the normal chores to do and the washing machine is churning away so there will be ironing to do soon. I have already hoovered. Dinner tonight is a beef stew so I will have that to get sorted out later too. I like to let it cook for hours so it is really tender. It's one of my favourite meals. Simon is going to his barn tonight so I will need to make sure that it is ready quite early.
I shall watch Eastenders and then when Simon gets back I am going to go and see my friend Eddy. He is out of hospital now and in plaster up to his knee. He is going away tomorrow to stay with his friend Maria in Tumbridge Wells so that she can take care of him. He can't do much at the moment!
Talking of Eastenders, I was reading in a magazine about next weeks story line and it's getting exciting. Steven has got Lucy!! Pat ends up in hospital and Steven tries to strangle her to silence her! Honey dies!!! And one of those Mitchell girls is pregnant...but who is the Daddy??? It's gripping stuff!
I am looking forward to the weekend. It's spring bank holiday weekend here in the UK so that gives us a 3 day weekend. I haven't checked the weather forecast but I am hoping that it will at least be dry so we can try and get on with the garden. I expect that we will see Sam, Lisa and Ellie at some point. I haven't seen her this week, so that will be good.
Simon won't be here on Sunday. I won 2 tickets to the British Touring Car Championship at Donnington race track for this Sunday. It's not my kind of thing but Simon will enjoy it. I think he is going to ask Sam if he wants to go too as there are 2 tickets.
Talking of wins, I also won a packet of embroidery needles in a competition this week. They came in the post this morning. A useful runner up prize as I am always loosing needles. I still think my big win is just round the corner. Going to enter some online competitions when I have finished this.
In fact it's time I did finish this and go and get on with some chores! I spoke too soon when I said it was dry here today as it is now very, very dark and pouring with rain! Not sure I dare to check the weekends forecast! Right housework here I come!
