Entry for 02 May 2008

It's a beautiful day here in Peterborough. The birds are singing and the sun is shining although it isn't that warm. I am hoping for good weather over this bank holiday weekend so that we can get some jobs done in the garden. I haven't dared to check the forecast though!
I am on my second cup of coffee and just sitting here doing a bit of blogging. I have done most of my jobs for the day. Cleaning, hoovering etc. I just have a small amount of ironing to do later when it is dry. I have it hanging out on the line at the moment.
Once I have finished catching up with a few friends, I am going to enter some online competitions and then I think I will sit and do some of "Bobs" embroidery. Talking of embroidery; when I took those photos the other day of my Dads paintings, I also took some photos of my own embroideries and tapestries. Here are a few.
This one is a modern sampler. It depicts our family.
This one hangs in my kitchen.

The herb garden is an example of what is known as "Black work" Mine is actually green but still shows all the various patterns used as fillers in Black work. The poppies are a woollen tapestry.
The 2 Massachusetts pictures were done to commemorate a trip that Simon and I made there in 2000, to celebrate our 20th wedding anniversary. Unfortunately you can't see the map very clearly. I marked all the places that we visited. We stayed in a place called Sandwich, out side of Boston.
These are little herb pictures which hang above the patio door in my kitchen. Again, you can't really see them clearly.
We have got lots of my embroideries hanging in our house. We like to have plain painted walls to show off all our photos and pictures. We have masses of photos everywhere interspersed with my Dads paintings and my sewing.
My English friends will be aware that there were local elections held here in the UK yesterday. Apparently it was one of the lowest turnouts ever. I have just been reading that the Labour government have lost 160 seats so far and they are predicting that it will rise to 200 before the end of the day. The Conservatives have so far gained 150 seats.
Did you vote? Simon and I had opted for postal votes for the first time ever, which made it easy. I do vote. I think you have no right to moan about a government if you can't even bother to vote. I do think it is time we got rid of this Labour government. I couldn't stand that smug Tony Blair, I think he did this country a lot of harm. Gordon Brown is no better. Lets get them out!
Today is day 10 of the "No diet, diet". I am struggling. Day 8 was to be more assertive. Yesterday was to change how you behave in a group. Both of those tasks were virtually impossible to complete since I was at home all day on my own! Todays task is to change my energy level. It says if you are normally calm then you need to be more energetic and vice versa.
I'm not normally that energetic so that is what I have to work on. Apparently I have to be more "driven". Not sure how I am supposed to do that either since I am at home on my own again!
Right, that's it for now, going to do some embroidery.
