Entry for 04 July 2008

The end of another week!  I was busy yesterday as I had my hair done in the morning and then stopped briefly at Coralie's on the way home.  I am now a nice blonde shade again!  Little Evan was fine and Coralie has had him weighed and he has gained 5oz!  He is now 8lb 11oz. He is a big boy!
Today, I have been trying to catch up on all my house work and some how not managing to get very far!  It's been one of those days!  I went out first thing to take a sickness certificate into school for my friend Ed, who has the broken leg.  That was an interesting visit to say the least.  He works for a very strange Company called Ecovert who run the Utilities side of things at the Voyager school.  I wouldn't want to work for them!
When I got in, I started the house work but I couldn't hoover as I was waiting for the man from Tesco to deliver my shopping.  If I am upstairs hoovering, I don't always hear the door bell. I did the shopping online last night as I knew I just wouldn't have time to go out and do it.  We were running out of everything so it was a gigantic order, which took me nearly 2 hours to unpack and put away.
I was just getting to the end of it and thinking about a coffee break, when I received a phone call from the hospital requesting that I go in for an MRSA screening test!  Great!  That was all I needed.  Apparently they now screen everyone before they go into hospital.  I guess that's a good idea but, I just could have done without it today.
As I had the car, I decided to drive.  It's only 5 minutes in the car.  It took me about 15 minutes to get a parking space, by which time, I was feeling really stressed.  Despite having been driving for over 30 years, I am still a lousy parker!  I need a really BIG space.  I hate having to reverse in as well. It's just another stress.
Consequently, by the time I actually found my way to where I was supposed to be, my blood pressure was sky high!  I did explain to the nurse and she seemed to agree with me, that it is probably due to stress.  Anyway, I had swabs taken from just about everywhere and was told that they will notify me if I am a carrier.  Apparently about 40% of us are.  If I am, then they will give me a 2 week course of antibiotics and I will be the last one to go to Theatre!  Great!
Since then, I have been trying to get my house sorted.  I have managed to do a fair bit, despite not actually feeling that great.  I have done the bathroom and more or less spring cleaned my bedroom.  Everything is back where it belongs!  I have also dusted some of those shelves that I mentioned the other day.  I have made a start on polishing the mirrored doors of my wardrobes and cleaned my bedroom windows.  Not bad really, as I do feel grotty.
I got all the veggies done for dinner and Simon cooked the sausages when he got back from going to buy some bits for his car.  He is doing exam marking again now.  I am beginning to feel like I live here on my own. Just as well I have my dogs for company.
Simon has worked for the exam board doing moderating and marking for about 20 years.  It is additional work to his normal teaching job.  He originally did it for the extra money when the children were small and we were quite hard up.  It is always stressful.  There is a time pressure to be finished by the dead line.  I think 20 years is quite long enough really and hope he'll call it a day.  If not, maybe I'll get myself a summer job next year!  I quite fancy a summer job abroad somewhere hot and sunny!  I don't suppose he'd notice I was missing. The house would get messy though!  Plus, my dogs would miss me.
Right that's about all for now.  I have just finished watching Eastenders and I am going to try and get my wardrobe doors finished.  Hopefully tomorrow, I will be able to get the rest of my house back up to scratch.  I have my sister and her husband and my Dad coming on Sunday to visit Coralie and baby Evan.  Sam is going to bring Ellie over too, so she can see her Great Grandad.
