Entry for 09 February 2008

Wow, a whole week with no blogs!! I haven't even been away. I have been quite busy as per usual and also unwell for part of the week. I have had a bit of a sore throat and a bit of a cold. I think I have kept it at bay by taking mega doses of vitamin C. I have also had a very strange thing happen with the little toe on my right foot!
I woke up in the middle of Wednesday night with an excruciating pain in my toe. I got up to take a look and it was swollen and red. I took some pain killers but couldn't get back to sleep. By the morning it was even more swollen and red and I could barely walk. I couldn't get a shoe on. I had slept with it sticking out of the bed as the cover touching it was really painful. I can't begin to describe the pain.
It went on all day Thursday but by the time I got up on Friday it had gone!! It still looks a bit swollen and a little pink but other than that it is fine. I have absolutely no idea what caused it; I did have something similar with the same toe when I was on holiday last October but it wasn't as bad as this! I suppose if it happens again, I ought to investigate further.
Apart from all my "ills" I have been busy as usual. I visited my Dad and my Mum in the hospital on Wednesday. Saskia came with me. We had quite a good day as Mum was OK. The rest of the week has been spent trying to keep on top of the house work.
Today, I have done washing, ironing, cleaning and lots of paper work. Simon has been at his barn. It is half term now, so he will be at home for a week. We are hoping to get a couple of days away at the end of the week when Coralie can come and dog sit for us.
Coralie is doing fine. She is half way through her pregnancy now and I am waiting for a copy of her latest scan to post on my blog. She did have a scare this week when a man accidentally kicked her in the stomach whilst swimming!! She was taken to hospital as a precaution, but thankfully everything was fine.
We have had a couple of bits of good news this week. Firstly, Simon has an interview for a new teaching post the week after half term. He is also pretty fed up with the Voyager school. Please send him all your good luck wishes as he is quite keen on this new job.
Secondly, Joshua has received an unconditional place at Bedford University for September 2008. He will be doing a B.sc degree in sports science. He has also applied to Leeds University but his interview there isn't until the 8th of March. He will decide where to go if Leeds make him an offer. In the mean time he will be continuing with his job as a learning support assistant at the Voyager School. He will need to start saving some money! Just when we thought our last one had passed through Uni!!
Well that's about it for now, with any luck I might get more blogging time next week.
