Entry for 17 February 2008

Oh my gosh, another week has passed with NO BLOGS! It was half term week too and I had such plans for blogging! Where does the time go? Apologies to all my friends who I just don't seem to have time to visit. Hell, I haven't even had time to write. Hopefully you are all fit and well.
The week started off well, Simon went into school on Monday and Saskia and I went to Coralie's house to have a scrap booking day. That was great fun and I did a couple of pages in my "Rosie" scrap book. Tuesday, Simon went to the barn and I spent the morning doing loads of housework; the plan being that I would spend the afternoon doing some of my own hobbies, some sewing, some reading etc..
I received a phone call from Samuel as I was eating my lunch asking if I could go over to Lisa as she was very unwell with a sickness bug and he couldn't get home from work owing to the fact that he wasn't in his own car. (He car shares and it wasn't his week). I had to get Josh to take me there as Simon was out in our car so I had no transport.
Poor Lisa looked really ill when we arrived and she was upset because she wasn't well enough to see to Ellie. Ellie, bless her was fast asleep in her chair so it didn't matter that her lunch was late. Lisa went straight to bed. Joshua stayed with me and when Ellie woke up we gave her lunch (she wouldn't eat it!) and then her bottle, which she was happy to have. She hadn't been well at the weekend either, so I wasn't too worried that she didn't want her lunch.
Joshua and I played with her and she was so good, although quieter than normal. I think maybe she was wondering where her Mummy was, as she woke up to me and Josh. We were going to take her out for a walk in the push chair so I changed her nappy and got her coat out. She was still laying on the floor on the cushions where I had changed her and as she looked sleepy, I thought I would have a coffee first.
When I came back with my coffee, Josh was laying down next to Ellie with a blanket covering them both! Very cute! He was stroking her head and she was nearly asleep. By the time I had finished my coffee she was well away and she slept for an hour and a half so we didn't get our walk. She only woke up when her Dad came in from work and she heard his voice.
Sam looked dreadful and was obviously going down with the same thing. He had a Doctors appointment at 6pm to check on his blood pressure which has been very high. Joshua went with him to take care of Ellie and Simon picked me up to go home. Fortunately, Sams blood pressure was OK this time.
Wednesday saw me going down with the same sickness and diarrhoea bug. Very nasty. I was sick loads in the night. I had 2 days in bed feeling sorry for myself. Simon and I were going away on Friday just for 2 days, but I wasn't at all sure on Thursday night if I would be up for it or not.
Thursday of course was Valentines day and Simon got me a card and some beautiful flowers. Unfortunately, there was no way that I could go out for the meal we had planned. I hope everyone had a good day with at least one card if you're married and piles of them if you're not!
I felt a little better on Friday morning so we decided to go anyway. We went to Thorpeness in Suffolk. It is a lovely place which we had seen on the "Coast" Programme. I have some photos which I will put on soon. We stayed at the Thorpeness Golf and Country Club hotel which was very nice. We visited Aldeburgh on Friday before having a really nice dinner of lamb shank at the hotel. It was delicious but unfortunately seemed to over whelm my tummy.
On Saturday, I didn't feel too great again but we still manged to have a really good day. We walked around Thorpeness mere, visited the windmill and had a look at "The house in the clouds" which is intriguing. Then we went to Aldeburgh and walked along the sea front, saw the Moot Hall and had a look in a few shops.
We drove along the coast to Walberswick where Simon had a holiday as a child. There are 3, sort of wooden chalet huts there, built on raised concrete pillars as the estuary floods. That was where he stayed on his childhood holiday. It's a strange kind of place but the village is very nice. Apparently they are holding an SOS protest there today to protest about the government plans to no longer maintain the sea defences. This will mean that eventually the area would be reclaimed by the sea. The protest was supposed to be on the news today so I will have to have a look and see.
Before coming home we went further round the coast to Southwold, which was so incredibly busy that we thought maybe something was going on that we had missed! We couldn't find out what though. If it is that busy in February, I dread to think what it is like at the height of the summer. It was impossible to park anywhere at all.
We had a nice couple of days away even though I wasn't my normal self. We got back in the evening and I spent it laying on the settee watching TV. I felt quite rough. Fortunately, today I seem to be quite a bit better and food isn't upsetting my tummy any more. We had a sort of late start and Simon has gone to the barn.
I had a really nice long bath and then I have been slowly pottering around, trying to catch up on a bit of house work. I have done the bathroom and some washing but that's it. I have entered a few competitIons and caught up with my emails.
Next week, is a busy week, so I am not sure what blogging time I will get. Tomorrow, I really have to get properly caught up with my jobs. Tuesday, I am looking after Ellie for a while as Lisa has a job interview at Thomas Cook here in Bretton. On Wednesday Coralie and I are going to Nottingham to exchange her wedding dress. The one she has is not going to fit her bump!!
On Thursday I have a meeting in school and on Friday Simon has his interview. I had thought I would try and get up to my D ad on Friday but that won't work as I won't have a car. I feel guilty that I didn't get up to him this week. I will have to go next weekend. I always feel so bad if I don't get there every week. I think he understands but I still feel bad. Originally I was going to go on Tuesday, but now I am having Ellie. I feel that I have to put my own family first sometimes.
Well that's it for now. I am going to go and start on dinner and I have some washing to put away and then tonight I am going to upload my photos of our trip.
