Just a very quick blog tonight to let you all know that I am OK. I have had 2 quiet days. Simon should have been at a car show yesterday with Sam but he ended up not going as he had to take Alfie to the vet.
Alfie suddenly became ill on Saturday evening. We didn't know what was wrong with him. He was crying all the time and seemed to be in pain. He could only lay down for a few minutes before moving. First of all we thought it might be a paw, but he cried each time we touched him.
To cut a long story short we had to phone the emergency vet. He took a long history and decided that maybe it was something to do with his hips. He had a few problems with them when he was young. He advised giving him paracetamol and taking him for a very short walk in case it was indigestion. A walk may help to settle that.
We had a very disturbed night with Simon sleeping in Verity's room with Alfie and that meant Loulou had to be allowed in with me! Rosie slept in the living room. Alfie didn't really sleep much. We phoned the vet again in the morning and he said to bring him in.
It wasn't our normal vet, it was one in Stamford. He checked him all over and said he thought it was his hips giving him pain so he gave him an injection of pain killers and anti-inflammatorys. He also has tablets to take and an appointment to see our own vet in a few days.
A few hours after getting home he seemed to be fine and he has been fine ever since!! I am not convinced that it was his hips at all! Last time he had his hips bad he could hardly walk and he limped and looked all stiff. He couldn't manage the stairs or getting up on a chair. There was none of that this time.
I think he must either have had a bad stomach ache as he didn't seem to be able to lay on his tummy; or he just wanted some tablets the same as his sister Loulou! Anyway, by the time they got back form the vet it was too late to go to a car show! The whole episode did nothing to help my blood pressure as I was really worried about him.
We had a quiet afternoon sitting in the garden as it was such a beautiful day. That is pretty much what I have done all day today too. I did go up to the post office this morning as I had to post the Bruce Springsteen tickets to my friend Ali. I also went into the library as they had a couple of books in that I had ordered.
I managed to do some washing and ironing today but apart from that I have been sitting in the garden reading my book and enjoying the sun. I managed to finish the book of the month for our book club. It was "Engelby" by Sebastian Faulkes. Chosen this month by Coralie. I'm afraid I didn't think much of it!
Right that's it for my short up date! Going off to do some more reading now before bed.
