Oh dear, I have got withdrawal symptoms again. It's been another 2 days since I have been able to get on here. Yesterday was a bit of a lazy day. I did a few jobs and then spent the rest of the time sitting in the sun in the garden. I had Simons lap top again but I spent the time entering competitions.
I am a bit of a competition addict. I enter them by post and on the Internet but never by phone as I think that is too expensive. I have won some good prizes in the past. The last really good one was the spa break that Simon and I went on back in February. Anyway, I have been neglecting to get my entries in just recently so I had a real go at them yesterday. Hopefully there are some winning ones amongst them!
Today, Simon disappeared off to a car show first thing and didn't get back until half past seven. I have spent the day catching up on all the normal stuff: Washing, ironing, hoovering, etc. I also did lots of paper work stuff that has been awaiting my attention for a while. I cooked dinner ready for 7pm, the time when Simon was due back, but he was late and it was nearly spoilt. I ended up having to eat mine just now due to stress. I can't eat when I am stressed.
Anyway, this evening I am going to a friends house for a drink and to sit in the garden and view the meteor shower. Apparently today is the very best day to watch the "The Perseids". We should hopefully be able to see up to 80 an hour!!
The Perseids (pûr'sē-ĭdz) are a prolific meteor shower associated with the Comet, Swift- Tuttle. The Perseids are so called because the point they appear to come from, called the radiant, lies in the constellation Perseus. Meteor showers occur when Earth moves through a meteor stream. The stream in this case is called the Perseid cloud and it stretches along the orbit of the Comet. The cloud consists of particles ejected by the comet as it passed by the Sun. Most of the dust in the cloud today is approximately a thousand years old. However, there is also a relatively young filament of dust in the stream that boiled off the comet in 1862.
It all sounds fascinating! I didn't even know about it until my friend said. Apparently some of them will look red and will be very fast moving. As it is a clear night here we should get a good show. I will report on it tomorrow.
