Entry for 20 April 2008

Well it's been a busy week with not a lot of blogging time.  I went up to Stevenage on Wednesday with Coralie.  We had a good visit and also saw my Aunt June and Uncle Ron. I remembered to take up my heirloom table cloth with me and got them both to sign it.  I have since found time to embroider the messages.  I must remember to take it to Coralie's wedding to get some more people to write on it.
Thursday I spent mainly doing house work, but I did go into school at lunch time to see Saskia.  We sat in the news room which was wonderfully quiet and enjoyed our lunch over a girlie gossip.  Saskia came to dinner that evening too.  While she was here she filled out her finance forms online for a student loan and grant.
Saskia has decided that she is going to go to University in September and has approached several, but would like De Monteford in Leicester.  She wants to do a Batchelor of Arts degree specialising (obviously) in dance.  Although she has been teaching dance at the Voyager school she doesn't have traditional teaching qualifications, only dance.  This means that she is on much lower pay.  Hence the decision to go for a degree.  That will be 2 of them going off in September just as Verity finishes in June!
Friday was another busy day spent catching up on house work as per usual.  Yesterday was of course my "official birthday" !  It was great.  I got several cards and a present from Simon.  I also got E cards from friends too.  Simon took both Coralie and I out for lunch in town and also went shopping with us for my wedding  outfit.  In the evening we were going to go out for a meal but in the end I opted for him cooking me a special meal at home which was lovely.
I can thoroughly recommend having an "official birthday".  You should all try it!  I am pleased to say that I have now got an outfit for Coralie's wedding.  It is a dress which is basically white with sort of stylised poppies on it.  It will go with a cream silk jacket that I had for Sam's wedding.  I have yet to decide on shoes.  I have some cream silk sling back shoes that match the jacket but it also looks good with black high heels and a black clutch bag.
It took forever to find the right dress and Coralie struggled bravely round goodness knows how many shops with me.  Actually, that sentence isn't quite true..........  It didn't take ages to find the dress, it was in John Lewis the first shop we went in and was one of 6 that I tried on in there.  We all liked it immediately but it was expensive and I wanted to check out the other shops before going ahead.  That's typical though isn't it?
Today we got up late and Simon walked the dogs who all came home absolutely filthy!  After the dogs were cleaned up, Simon hoovered for me before going to his barn.  I have been doing other jobs in between relaxing with a book.  I have just finished reading, "Fruit flies like a banana" by Steve Haywood.  It's about a man taking a journey through the Midlands on a narrow boat.  It was very good and almost persuaded me that this is one kind of boat I might be OK on!  Please note, that I said "almost"!  LOL.
I forgot to mention that for the first time I am posting directly to Multiply and only copying and pasting to Yahoo.  That's if it will let me!!  I am just so sick of it.  You all know the problems, so I won't go into them again.  I am going to email my friends with my Multiply address so that they can still keep up with me.
Right, it's time to finish as I need to go and start peeling the potatoes for roasties.  Simon will be back at 6.30pm by which time I need to have dinner well under way.  I will try and catch up with everyone next week, but I seem to have little time to even write my blog, that alone read others.  Sorry.
