Entry for 23 May 2007 (copy)

Well, I have had a very pleasant day doing very little! I did not have to be in school today and last night Sam phoned to see if I could look after Ellie this morning as Lisa had a hospital appointment. Of course, I jumped at the chance. Then he said, can you be over at our house by 8am as Lisa's appointment is for 9am!
OK, I am not great in the morning and this meant getting up earlier than I do when I'm in school, but how could I refuse a chance of cuddles? As it turned out, when I got there Sam hadn't gone to work anyway as he has some kind of virus. Still, with me there it meant he could stay in bed. Ellie was a little angel. When her Mum went she had just been fed and changed, so nothing for me to do except sit and talk and cuddle.
She is so alert. She stares up at you with those big eyes and looks like she is listening to every word. Every now and then she would frown at me as if to say "You're not my Mummy or Daddy, who are you?" We had an hour of cuddles before she fell asleep and I was then able to do all of the ironing before Lisa got back.
Since I have been home, I have done a bit of washing and ironing and I just hoovered ten minutes ago. I have spent most of the afternoon either reading or catching up with blogging. I think I have paid most of you a visit, although I didn't comment on everyone as that would have taken ages.
I have been through my friends list this afternoon and deleted a few people. About 2 months ago I accepted invites from 4 new people. They all sounded nice and I enjoyed their blogs. I have left quick comments wishing them a good weekend etc... Not one of them has done a blog since or visited me. So........ sadly, I have decided to delete them. I like to try and keep my list to around the 50 mark as that seems just about manageable. Sometimes I get invites which seen really good but I end up declining because I don't want my list to grow. So deleting those who appear not to be blogging will free up some room. Sorry if I deleted you, but you can always re-invite me if you are starting to blog regularly.
Something I need to clear up as one or two of you have asked me what I am studying in school!! LOL !!  I am not studying anything........... I work there!! I am the Senior Invigilator. This means that most of the year I don't wok at all but when the summer exam season starts, then I work about 7 weeks solid. Over the course of a year I probably work about the equivalent of 12 weeks full time. Yippee.... 40 weeks holiday!
It's a good job for me as it earns some extra cash which pays for things like holidays and it also gets me out of the house and seeing other people. I am a person who likes solitude and I am quite happy with my own company. I love being at home and doing things when I want. I've earned it after all those years bringing up 5 children. I like to have time for my hobbies and interests as well as looking after the house. These 7 weeks of exams are quite stressful as I get so behind with everything at home. Anyway, there you go, I am not studying!! Well not at school anyway. I am always researching stuff so that might count as studying!
Well, I think it's time now to go downstairs and maybe do some more jobs, so that when Simon comes in he will think that I have been busy all day!! He thinks the fairies do the work!
