The last day of June, which signifies that we are exactly half way through 2008. Where has it gone to? Where is summer? Hopefully with the advent of July tomorrow, we will begin to get some consistently hot weather. I know that Wednesday is supposed to be really good, so I may have a sitting in the garden day!!
Yesterday was spent pretty much on my own as everyone here was busy. Josh was out with friends and Verity was busy. Simon spent the entire day doing exam marking. Honestly, sometimes it feels like I may as well live on my own. I wouldn't have to do half as much house work if I did!! Would still live with my doggies though!
Sam and Lisa came over with Ellie for dinner yesterday. We had a lovely dinner cooked by Verity. Roast pork and all the trimmings with Verity's special chocolate cake with cream for dessert. I'll post the recipe, but I don't have a photo which is a shame. Ellie was very good and played in the garden for a while. I am having her all day tomorrow while Lisa works. That is from 7.15am!!! I must make sure to be up on time!
Verity is going home to Southampton tomorrow as she and Adam are going on holiday on Wednesday. I am very envious; I could do with a holiday! I don't know when we can go as Coralie, my dog sitter, is otherwise occupied!
I also have my appointment tomorrow with my Doctor. I will let you know how I get on. Did I mention last week that I have had the appointment through from the hospital for the cystoscopy? It's for the 17th of July. Before then they do a telephone assessment! Don't ask me how you can assess someone over the phone!! I wouldn't mind so much, but I know they will ask all the same questions when I actually go to the hospital, which makes it pointless!
Anyway, they originally spoke to Simon about this and it was to be Monday (today) I pointed out to Simon that there was no point in having the assessment before my Doctors appointment as I may end up not having the cystosocpy anyway. The appointment for the assessment was duly changed to Thursday. So what happened??? They phoned today!!! Can these people get nothing right. Verity spoke to them and said Thursday. They said I should ring them back. I will wait and see if they phone me on Thursday as arranged.
I have been busy today doing all the normal house work jobs plus a few extras. I cleaned out my condiment cupboard which gets messy and also cleaned the cooker hood. A funny thing happened........ Verity was going into town and left the house through the front door. She returned 2 minutes later for her cardigan. She couldn't get in!! When I went to see what was wrong, she had her key in the door and the bottom bit seemed to be open but the top was well and truly stuck!!
I don't know what has happened to it. We pushed and pulled but no luck! I can't work out why she got out OK and then it was stuck 2 minutes later. I had to pass her cardigan over the back fence.
I was going to go to th post office, but I couldn't as the only way out would be through the back gate and I don't know the combination for the lock as I never go out that way. I did phone Simon and get the number as I realised that I would need it for Verity to get back in!
I still couldn't go out though, as Simon keeps the only key for the patio doors on his key ring!!! He goes in and out the back with the dogs but I never do! I didn't want to leave the doors unlocked because the gate would be unlocked. I couldn't go out and shut them though because I wouldn't be able to get back in! I hope Simon can do something with it when he gets home, because it is causing a right pain. I hope it doesn't turn out to be something that needs an expensive repair.
