Friday 17th September

I’m pretty fed up today.  I have a horrid headache which may be sinus related as it is hurting under my eye and down the side of my nose.  I also seem to be starting a cold.  My nose is running and I can't stop sneezing.  Maybe it’s an autumn allergy. Consequently I have done more or less nothing all day.
Josh is back from Egypt, he got in about 8am this morning.  Sounds like they had a good time.  He isn't as tanned as I thought he would be but he says the temperature was about 42 degrees centigrade which was just too hot to sit in for long.  Funny that as it’s been about 42 Fahrenheit here the last few nights!  He will be at home for a week, returning to Uni next Sunday.
Good heavens, I just noticed that it is already ten past three!  Simon will be home in twenty minutes.  He tries hard to be in by 3.30pm on a Friday.  He is away this weekend at the hot rod drags with Sam.
Ugh, I’m having a hot flush now.  This is a grotty day.
I have been putting some photos and videos on here this morning.  I am nearly ready to post the wedding ones.  It has been a real chore getting them in order.  I have over 500!  They have come from lots of different people and I kept putting them all in one folder which meant they all had different numbers and were all muddled so a slideshow would have looked silly.
I see from this morning’s news that Stephen Fry has managed to get embroiled in the controversy over the pope’s visit.  Apparently he disputes that he is a head of state and that therefore this is not a state visit.  I agree.
I was totally incensed when the government released figures of the cost to the tax payer.  12 million pounds and that doesn't include the cost of the police.  WTF???????  Did they ask you if you wanted your taxes used in this way? They sure as hell didn't ask me.  Why is the Catholic Church not funding this?
I find it deplorable in this current economic climate when cuts are being made to all our essential services that the tax payers of this country have to sit by and watch our money being spent in this way. Before any of you ask I do not have a problem with the pope as such, I just think that he should be paying his own way.
I am a non practicing Catholic if that makes sense.  I am also a non believer if that makes sense!  I had no religious upbringing.  I converted to Catholicism and was confirmed into the church some time after Simon and I married.  It was an attempt on my part to please the in-laws.  It didn't work. Simon had resumed going to church at that point; I think for the same reason....to please his parents (staunch Italian Catholic) Simon is a non believer. He thinks the church is just a way of controlling the masses.  Our children had a Catholic upbringing with all of us attending church.  They also went to a Catholic primary school.  Coralie is the only one who still goes and is a firm believer.
I hope my comments don't upset anyone.  I know some of my friends are true believers and live their life around the churches teachings and the bible.  I have every respect for them.  Each to their own.
Actually this reminds me that a while ago someone (maybe Cindy) asked of it was possible to be a Christian if you didn’t go to church.  I gave that some though at the time and I concluded that for me I believe that yes you can.  I guess it depends on what your definition of a Christian is.  A Christian is I think a believer in Christ.  A good person.  I am sure that you will all be telling me that the bible says that you must honor Christ and that to do that you must visit his house.  But... isn't he everywhere so can't he be honored anywhere?
My parents never went to church accept for weddings and funerals etc.  I think they probably do say a prayer or two though.  Well not my Mum now of course but I think she used to.  They are good people though.  They would help anyone; they give to charity etc....  I believe they are Christians.
Good heavens..........Don't know what started me on that one!  Oh yes the pope!  LOL!  I don't usually get into religious stuff.  I do believe that we are all entitled to our own views and opinions and that no one should be persecuted because of their individual faith.
Simon is home now and I am feeling even worse.  I have taken tablets and am lying on the settee. I think I am going to watch one of the things that I have recorded on the sky box.  Simon is planting daffodil bulbs in the front garden.
Hope everyone has a good Friday evening and a good weekend.
