Friday Five: Holidays and Food - one day late!

This week's theme was provided by Blessed Rain . . . click here for her Multiply page andhere for her Yahoo 360 page . . Thanksgiving, one of America's favourite holidays is right around the corner . . . let's explore the cultural exchange of FOOD AND THE HOLIDAYS. Since we are an international collection of friends, rather than focus on Thanksgiving, discuss your favourite holiday.
Share your recipes as an added bonus . . .
1. What is your favourite holiday . . . and why, if you care to elaborate, especially those holidays not widely known . . . Christmas has got to be my favourite, although I don't like all the shopping that has to be done before hand. I also think it has become too commercialised and that the shops start way too early. Hopefully now I have my first grandchild the magic will creep back. My childhood Christmas' were magic and when our own family were young it was always a wonderful time. I like everyone being together with all day to relax. This year will have a certain sadness because it will be the first one that my Mum will not be a part of. She won't know that it is Christmas.
Your four favourite foods or drinks associated with this holiday . . . appetiser, main course, side dish, dessert . . . your choice . . .

2.
Cadburys Roses chocolates!! With a glass of red wine!!!
3.
It has to be the traditional roast turkey with all the trimmings and mounds of veggies.
4.
Yorkshire pudding.
5.
We don't like Christmas pudding so we have a variety of creamy desserts to choose from. I love profiteroles, especially home made ones. My girls are good at making them.If you are sharing recipes . . . why not join Deb's Recipe Friday Tour . . .
on Multiply and here is the link to her 360 page, although I'm not sure if she is still posting the Recipe Friday Tour there . . . and if you are sharing chicken or herb-related recipes, participate on Seanymph's Multiply page for Chicken Tuesday or Herb Thursday . . . a great way to make new friends! If you would like to participate in the Friday 5: Copy the questions and post your answers to your blog, Leave a comment on the page at The Friday Five @ 360 or The Friday Five @ Multiply to let others know your post is up so they can visit your blog.
