Grandma Moses (copy)

Gosh, I am really going all arty tonight! A lady called Annie who kindly left me some comments has brought another artist to my attention this evening, A very different artist. A lady named Grandma Moses.
Her real name is Anna Mary Moses, yet another American born in 1860 and died in 1961, aged 101. She was an American folk artist who only took up painting in her seventies after abandoning a career in embroidery because of arthritis.
She mainly painted rural scenes and a lot of her work was used on the covers of Hallmark cards. Her work is now on show at the Bennigton Museum in Vermont.
The print above us called Beautiful World and is from 1948
The lady Annie, commented that although she found Mark Ryden and Shag interesting she wouldn't want them in her walls. I like the Ghost girl by Mark Ryden as much as Shags, Three Monkeys. I also like the picture Beautiful World. I think I would hang any of them on my walls if I had them, particularly if I was lucky enough to own the originals. I think it just depends where you put them and with what else or maybe even on their own, as to how good they look.
We have most of our walls covered with prints, photos, my Dads paintings and my embroidery. I am still waiting for one of Coralie's creations. I do like to have lots of different styles around the house.
Well as you can see, it is nearly one in the morning, so I think it is bed time now. I feel quite relaxed after being able to get so much blogging done. I will try to catch up with everyone tomorrow although of course more house work awaits!
