I am at home

I am at home.  I should not be at home!  I should be in Stevenage.  There was a review meeting at the hospital this morning regarding my Mums care.  I always go along with my sister and my Dad.  This one is quite important as we think they are going to say that Mum no longer fulfils the criteria to stay there.
I was going to have the car to drive up but we have had more snow over night and there was fog first thing.  It’s not huge amounts of snow like other parts of the country but it is enough for me.  I don’t enjoy driving, I hate the A1 and I do not like driving in less than perfect conditions. I had listened to the traffic reports too and there were a couple of big accidents on the A1.
So, we decided this morning that the train would be a much better idea.   I checked the train line for times and prices.  Simon had said he would drop me at the station on his way to school.  However the only train that I could really go on was the 9.45am.  That would have meant hanging around at the station for 2 hours so I opted to get myself there on the bus.  The earlier trains were £42.50 which is just ridiculous and the later train didn’t arrive until 11.08 which is too late for a meeting at 11am!
So... I set off from the house at twenty minutes to nine.  I got to the bus stop just before ten to.  There were a lot of people waiting so I figured it would be along very soon.  They are every 10 minutes.......supposedly.  At twenty five past nine I gave up and came home. I don’t even know why I sat there so long.  On a normal day the bus takes 25 minutes to get into town.  Then it is about a ten minute walk over the bridge to the station and then I would have to buy a ticket so on a normal day you are probably looking at about 40 mins. I had allowed over an hour!
I was freezing cold and covered in snow because of course it decided to snow the whole time I was out. I am So ******! I wasn’t even sure if my train would be running if I had got to the station.  The local radio had said some trains were cancelled due to snow further up the line. Plus I now feel really guilty because I am not there.  My sister will go with my Dad and she will tell me what was said when I talk to her tonight but I still feel bad.
I had only been home a short while when Sam phoned to say that he Lisa and Jessica were going to Coralie’s to see the new puppy and would I like to go too? Sam has the day off today as it is his birthday.  I said I would go so that I would see him.  We went for about an hour. Barclay is just gorgeous. Into everything.  I think Coralie is feeling a bit stressed.  Flynn keeps getting into Barclays water!  LOL.  Puppies are such fun.
Since Sam dropped me home I have been busy clearing up Rosie’s mess.  She came down when I got in and I got her in the garden and she did a wee. I got her in and while she had a drink in the kitchen I just took some ironing upstairs.  When I came down she had messed everywhere in the hall. I have cleared it all, disinfected and I am just about to start going over it with the carpet cleaner.  It is so hard, I get really upset, but she can’t help it. She is sleeping now and probably won’t move until later on this evening.
Simon and I are booked on a taster bee keeping course tonight.  It is being run by a new enterprise in Peterborough called the Greeniversity.  You join up for free and then you can attend any of their courses for free as they are all taught by members who give their time for nothing. Simon has registered to teach.  Not sure what he will do yet.  I say teach, it is more a passing on of skills. It is about being ecological.  So he may teach some basic car maintenance or some wood work projects.  They have all sorts of things going on.  I t looks good. Anyway the session tonight is to tell you about the basics of bee keeping so that you can be better informed to decide if this is something you want to do.  We have considered it for our allotment but it’s quite expensive to set up and we don’t know the first thing so hopefully this course will give us the information we need.
I keep saying we but I doubt that I will be going.  The course is 5pm – 7pm.  Simon will go straight from school as he is already in the city centre.  I will have to go out and attempt to catch a bus.  I will need to leave by about 4pm.  I really don’t think I can face waiting around in the cold again though so I think I shall just wait for Simon to tell me about it. Wretched snow.
Right, I need to get going with the carpet cleaner so I am out of here now. I will do the photo challenge later and also a blog for Sam’s birthday.
