I'm walking the walk....hopefully!

Photobucket
Thursday again and it is a fine day here in Peterborough.  I am having my coffee now after a busy start to my morning, more of that in a minute.  My doggies are all here keeping me company, so all is well in my little corner of the world. Just remembered, In a reply to an email I sent to Simon yesterday he said "yooz spen tooz much timz talkin wiv zem pupyz. licklickslobberslobber"  Very funny Simon!
First things first; I have sorted out why my page had gone wide.  It was due to some large comments in my guest book.  Once I deleted them, I was back to normal.  What a relief, no girl wants to be wide! Ok on to my busy start to the morning.

Some of you may recall that I did a blog about the Playtex Moon Walk in aid of Breast Cancer. Coralie and I decided way back last year that we would try to enter for the 2009 London walk.  It is an event run by a charity called Walk the Walk, they do various challenges.  The largest is the London Moon walk.

It is a 26 mile marathon, or 13.1 mile half marathon, power walk.  It begins at midnight and you walk through the London streets, wearing a decorated bra!  Even the men! The aim is to raise money for breast cancer charities through sponsorship.  You also have fun along the way and get fitter!  Possibly.  Although, the majority of people do power walk, there are others that just do whatever they can.  It is not a race!   Take a look here: http://www.walkthewalk.org/Challenges/ThePlaytexMoonWalk

Well this morning at 9am was when the online entries began.  Coralie and I were poised ready at 8.59am........9am, go to site press buttons............the stupid page wouldn't load!  Coralie was on the phone to me, her friend Jo was on the phone to her etc...  We concluded that either they were still uploading the forms or so many people had all tried to log in at once that it had crashed.

We sat there for 20 minutes refreshing the page and finally we were in. Yes!  We have made our entries and now we have to wait 48 hours for an email confirming our places.  The event is extremely popular, so you are not guaranteed entry.

We have opted for the half marathon this time round, maybe if we do it again we could do the full one.  We have also tried to get others to join us and we have a team of 6 so far, which is brilliant.  There is me, Coralie, Simon, my cousin Wendy, who most of you know, and 2 midwife friends of Coralies, Jo and Megan.

We are still hoping for others.  There are quite a few people who said they would, or said they would think about it.  We just need them to put their money where their mouth is!  If you don't join us, you'll be well and truly stung for sponsorship!  Come on do your bit for charity and have a laugh along the way.  I bet we will have a laugh too.

Oh, just remembered, I didn't tell you our team name...........It is ................................... MANGOES and PLUMS!   This can be taken on 2 levels.  IE:  The size of a woman's breasts; Some of us have got mangoes (Coralie!) and well some of us have plums!!  Or of course it could refer to the women members of the team  (mangoes) and the male members of the team......... I'll leave that to your imagination!!  Hope you like it.  We all thought it was funny.  The inspiration came yesterday while in Sainsburys, buying mangoes.  LOL.

So keep your fingers crossed for us that we all get our confirmation emails.  Knowing my luck, I'll be the only one who gets a place and I'll have to do it on my own!  Well, on my own with 14,999 strangers.  It is on the 16th of May next year.  Simons birthday!

Right, I need to get myself in gear now.  I am going to The Voyager school at lunch time as a witness for my friend Eddy in another meeting regarding the grievance procedure he has taken against them.  His solicitor advised having a witness.

After that I will have to get 2 buses to get home as I don't have the car.  Coralie is going to pop in later with Evan.  She had him weighed yesterday and he is now 16lb 12oz!!!!    Once she goes I will be busy catching up on jobs and getting dinner.  Tonight, I need to organise myself as I am going on the coach to Southampton tomorrow to stay with Verity for a few days.  I will be back from there on Monday.  So it's all go around here.  Best go get myself ready.
