I have been to Lulworth Cove quite a few times with Simon and when I was a child. I can remember one holiday very clearly and even recall exactly where we sat and how we climbed up a little way on to the cliff to eat our sandwiches. It has great memories for me.
The Lulworth Cove Inn
Simon and I stayed at the Lulworth Cove Inn which was clean and comfy but very old fashioned. It is in a perfect location though and great for a few days. You can find out more about Lulworth here: LULWORTH
Me!
Simon wearing his disgusting dog walking jacket!
View across the cove.
Me on the long walk over the cliffs to Durdle Door.
Simon pretending he was running all the way!
Me at the top.
The pathway up to the first peak. You can see why I didn't get much further!
Stair hole.
Stair Hole is a relatively new cove that is forming just to the west of Lulworth cove. In a few hundred thousand years it will be just as large and spectacular as Lulworth Cove (assuming that it does not merge with Lulworth Cove itself). The uniquely folding limestone strata known as Lulworth crumple are particularly visible at Stair Hole.
A view of the arch known as Durdle Door. This is where we were we heading but my knee didn't let us get that far! I would have been Ok if it wasn't up hill. We have been there before years ago, so I have seen it.
