Mondays make, do, or mend

Monday means it is time to show you what I have been making and doing over the last week.  Sadly it has been very little this week.
We did have our sewing lesson with Denise on Tuesday and that was a great success.  We went to her house for the evening, met her cat Billy, drank lots of coffee, ate whoopee pies (more of them later!) and we even did some sewing.
I have very nearly finished my lap top bag and Kindle pouch.  They will be finished tomorrow and I will start on cutting out my skirt.
Apart from that all I have done is sock monkeys and I haven’t yet managed to complete one!  Apart from the 2 that have already gone to Merika to live with Dixie’s granddaughter, Sarah. (Click here to see video of Sarah and her English monkeys, it is so cute). I am making 2 blue ones for 2 baby boys in Merika and a red one for a big boy somewhere up t’North.
So all in all it was not a good week for making and doing.  Oh, I said I was going to tell you more about the whoopee pies.  These have recently become popular over here, another import from Merika!
I have been meaning to make them for ages so I looked up a recipe last Tuesday and got to it.  They were not really a success!  They tasted divine but looked nothing like the whoopee pies that I have seen in the bakery.  Those are cute little patties, nicely domed with their cream layer in the middle. Mine were flat as pancakes and ginormous! I have no idea what went wrong as I followed the recipe exactly.  I am guessing it is my stupid oven and its dodgy temperature again although I fiddled with that for ages to get it right.
My whoopee’s were vanilla with chocolate and orange cream. When they were sandwiched together they looked like hamburgers in a bun!  They did taste good though.  I might have another try at them. Here are some photos of the process.
