My 26th of the month blog for October

It’s that time of the month again........yes it’s the 26th so that means it is time to do a “My day ~ photo blog”.  Before I start I should mention that it was a Tuesday.
Well Simon was up about 8.30am and came up with my breakfast at about 9am. I had the usual scrambled eggs and toast.  Oh and coffee also!  I’m not sane until I have had my coffee. After that it was up, wash and dress and get myself ready to go out.
We were going to Ikea in Milton Keynes.  It is about an hour and a half’s drive from us and it wasn’t the best day as the weather was foul.  Cold and pouring with rain. We got pretty wet just going out to the car. From my house you have to walk under a little archway (has a flat over it....apartment to my Merikan friends) to reach the road where the garages are.  Our car is parked on the street.

Our car.
Programming the sat nav.
Once in the car Simon set about programming the sat nav as last time we went we got lost.  We have only been once before.  I’m not sure why we bother with the sat nav as Simon just ignores it anyway as he always thinks he knows better!  Plus he gets annoyed with her giving us directions on how to get out of our road!!!!
Looking up to the end of our road which is a dead end.
Heading up our road.
We got to Ikea about 11.30. We still managed to get slightly lost!  We had to make a dash from the car because it was still raining.
The first port of call was the coffee shop for coffee and chocolate doughnuts which I forgot to take photos of!  Then we set off to do a tour of the store. We spent quite a long time looking at the kitchens’ with me just wishing and hoping!!!!
We also spent quite a while in the living room areas and the bedroom area.  We saw a really nice wooden bed frame which we would like for our own room and we may go ahead and buy that from the internet.  We also saw a day bed which would be perfect for the children’s toy room.  Remember that I have been saying for ages that we want to replace the double bed in there with a single one for when the grandchildren stay.  This day bed converts into a double bed when needed so that would be good.  We are thinking about that and may order it from the internet.
Simon spotted a laptop stand that is height adjustable and also tilts.  He sits in the armchair when he uses his lap top and it is not the most comfortable way to work with it on his lap.  He thinks this little stand will help.  He needs to put it together and then I will take a photo of it.  He is at his barn this evening so he hasn’t done it yet.
Then it was time for lunch.  We both had Swedish meatballs which were really tasty and only £3.85 each!! We didn’t bother with a dessert in the end as we were both full. Simon did however take a photo of a sign that he had spotted near the restaurant entrance......................Swedish tarts!  For some reason he thought that was hilarious and kept t saying he was going to ask a member of staff where they were and how much.  Men!  Amazing what makes them laugh!  I think they are all still school boys really.
After lunch we went round the rest of the store and finally chose some white china.  We purchased 2 sets of dinner plates, side plates and bowls all in plain white.  That gives us 12 place settings which is enough for now.  We did buy a couple of other things:  A wooden tray, 2 packs of 3 pairs of scissors (6 in total) 2 wicker baskets to go under the coffee table for remote controls and our glasses etc.  A plastic knife for use with my new tray bake tin and some plastic safety corners for the coffee table to protect delicate grandchildren’s heads!
Time to go home!  We finally found the exit and made our way out to find the car.  It was still raining!  We got soaked.  In the car Simon set the sat nav for home and we set off.  It did manage to get us out of Milton Keynes but then sent us on a very funny route to Bedford and out to the A1.
We got home just after 6pm.  Our dogs were very pleased to see us.  After a quick cup of coffee Simon got changed and set off to his barn.  I watched Eastenders and fussed my dogs. The TV is now turned off the dogs are asleep on the settees and I am here.

Simon should be back about 10.30pm and we will have a snack of some kind then.  We didn’t eat when we got home as we had the meatballs’ about 3pm so neither of us was hungry then.  I am beginning to feel quite peckish now.  I expect when he gets in Simon will probably assemble his lap top stand.  I shall do some reading and bedtime will be about midnight.  Simon will be snoring about 5 minutes later and I will still be awake about 4 hours later!!!
View from restaurant window while we were eating lunch. Still raining!
So that was my day for Tuesday 26th of October.  Next month we will have a new family member!  There is no news yet but I will let you know just as soon as anything happens.
