My Birthday - last Sunday!

Happy Birthday to me
Happy birthday to me
Happy birthday dear me
Happy birthday to me!!
10/10/10 – My birthday.
Yes my birthday was on Sunday and I had a lovely day.  I had hoped that we could go away for the weekend but that didn’t work out as we couldn’t arrange a dog sitter.  Not to worry I thought we would just have a day out on Saturday instead.  I had given Simon several suggestions.  In the event he didn’t get anything organised so I spent Saturday doing house work!  Not a good start to my birthday weekend.  Typical bloody man can’t organise the proverbial PUIAB!
Perhaps I expect too much?  After all it wasn’t actually my birthday until Sunday.  I had several phone calls from my kids on Saturday regarding arrangements for Sunday and in the end I had to get quite cross.  I mean, for goodness sake they are all grown adults you would think they would be able to sort out and organise themselves without me having to do everything.  Since it was my birthday I had rather hoped that everyone would organise stuff for me.
Still, in the event Sunday went off very well.  Simon and I had a nice lie in and he brought me breakfast as normal about 10am.  I also had my presents and cards whilst lying in bed with my coffee.  Simon got me a dog charm for my Pandora bracelet which sadly doesn’t fit so we will have to take it back at the weekend.  He also got me a little video camera called a Sony Bloggie.  I have wanted one for a while.  It takes still photos as well but I wanted it so I could take video.
It’s quite small and light weight so will be easy to carry in my hand bag.  It has a flip out screen which swivels through 270 degrees.  It is cool.  I took a couple of videos during the day which are not good as I haven’t got the hang of it yet!!!  There is a nice one where Evan says “I love you Nanny” Simon supposedly videoed everyone singing happy birthday to me and the children helping me to blow out the candles...... Simon obviously has even less idea than me as nothing was recorded!!!  The same with the photos!  Consequently I think there is actually only 1 photo of me with Evan.  It’s not even a good one!
Anyway, the children all arrived between 2 and 4pm ready to start cooking.  We sat around talking while they did all the work; that was nice.  Coralie did a starter of brie and red onion tarts with rocket salad leaves.  Samuel and Lisa made a very nice orange cocktail.  I’m not sure what it was called or what it had in it apart from Malibu and orange but it was really nice.
Verity, Steve and Saskia cooked a lovely paella which rivalled Simons.  Josh and Charlotte supplied 3 different desserts, Chocolate cake, lemon meringue pie and raspberry roulade!  It was a yummy meal.
I got more presents and cards.  Money, Lush bath bombs and other Lush smellies, red wine, 4 boxes of expensive chocolates, flowers, a key ring with green willies attached (must put the allotment key on there.  Josh and Charlotte renewed my magazine subscription to Your Home magazine which is what they got me last year.  Coralie and Saskia clubbed together to get me a silver bead for my Pandora bracelet which says Mother around the edge and on the top it says Mare and Madre (Mother in French and Spanish)
After dinner we had coffee and tea in the living room and enjoyed watching Evan, and Ellie playing together.  It was a good day and I only wish there were more photos. I will post what I have in my October album and I will post the videos too.  They aren’t great but worth watching to see and hear Ellie and Evan.  Hopefully in due course my video skills will improve!!!!  LOL!
