Photo whatsit 16

It’s coffee time so that must mean its time for the photo whatnot! Todays one is: 16. Your car......................or other mode of transport you use regularly.
Well it has to be car for me.  I occasionally use the bus to go to town.......probably less than a half dozen times a year!  Even less occasionally I use the train.........maybe 3 times in a year. This year I have been to London once and Barrow once.  So the car is my normal mode of transport.
I don’t very often drive myself anymore because I rarely have the car anyway.  Occasionally I have it so I can drive up to Stevenage but as Simon uses it to get to and from school it is not generally at my disposal during the week.  When we are together he always drives.
Our car is a 3 year old Vauxhall Zafira.  It cost £14,000 brand new and is only the second brand new car we have ever had.  We got it a bit cheaper because we bought it just before the change in registration plate letter.  When we were first married and our family was growing we had what are known in the trade as “old bangers”!  We couldn’t afford anything else.
It is nice now to be able to have something which is hopefully reliable and safe and doesn’t cost a fortune in regular repair bills.  As you can see it is a large estate car so there is plenty of room for 3 dallies up back.  We have dog bars to prevent them from climbing through to sit up front with us which they would were it not for those bars!
The first brand new car we had was at the end of the summer of 1999.  It was a Citroen Xsara and I really liked it.  It was an unusual gold colour.  Sadly we had only had it a matter of weeks when it was written off in an accident on our way to Gatwick airport.  We were going to Merika.
Just before the airport turn off the M25 a German idiot hit us from behind and shunted us into the car in front.  Want to know what he told the police? He didn’t see how near he was to us because he was reading his map!  So because he didn’t know where he was going he could have killed us.  Thank goodness everyone involved was fine and we were able to fly out the next day.  We came back to no car but thankfully our insurance replaced it with another new one because ours was only a few weeks old.
Tomorrows challenge is: 17. The car you would most like to have.  Remember there are no rules here so this could be anything from a Rolls Royce if you win the lottery to a matchbox or scalextrics car you hankered after when you were a kid.  It could even be a fantasy car like chitty chitty bang bang or that one from back to the future. If it’s a modern day car you could either pinch a photo from the internet or you could stand by the side of the road with your camera poised waiting for one to come along!  I’ll leave it to you.
