If you or someone you know has had the heart-breaking experience
of buying a puppy from a pet store only to have it become very ill
and/or die within the first few years of its life, then your precious little puppy was probably bred in a puppy farm (mill). Hundreds of thousands of dogs are born each year in puppy farms (mills), where they are kept in horrifying conditions by soulless men and women who view them as mere profit. The dogs are often born with genetic defects and diseases and are shipped to pet shops six to a box. Those which survive the trip are sold at extortionate prices. Papers from the kennel Club are worthless when it comes to any kind of guarantee of health or quality - you can only buy pedigree dogs from a registered breeder - NOT a pet store!

Please help stop the atrocity of puppy farms
Take a look at this web site it has heart breaking stories. http://www.geocities.com/lorayen/PuppyMills.html
Dog ownership is not something to take lightly. You should be very, very, sure that you have the time, money and resources to look after a dog for it's life time. That can mean anything up to 20 years. DOGS ARE FOR LIFE
Once you have decided that you want a dog, you need to do lots of research into the various breeds to find which kind of dog you would like and which kind of dog will be most suited to your life style and circumstances. When your decision is made, you need to do further research into that breed and the people who breed them. Reputable breeders will always welcome questions. When Rosie had her 2 puppies, Loulou and Alfie, we were originally going to sell them. We had a great many phone calls from all kinds of people. Not one of them would have made a suitable owner for a Dalmatian. Hence, that in the end we simply kept them ourselves. We had people phone up who didn't even know what a Dalmatian is!!! It was unbelievable.
These are the kind of people who see the cute little puppies for sale in a pet shop and buy on impulse, the same way they do with their other shopping. Those poor pups then go from the pet shop to the abandoned dogs home, always assuming that they live.
I love dogs, always have done. But please don't have a dog unless you have the necessary love and care to give; and NEVER,NEVER buy from a shop. Please tell your friends.
