Randomness Meme

Randomness
A weekly meme to feed your mind...and your blog
All About Blogging This week let’s discuss blogging.

1.     When did you start blogging? I got into blogging because my friend Ali had one!  At that time I had never even heard the word blog.  I had to investigate and I liked what I found, so I had to have my own.  I started out on the 30th of July 2006, originally at Blogger.com. The entries are still there but the site is unused. See it here BLOGGER

I didn't really like Blogger that much, so in October 2006 I did some research for a site that would be more to my liking and I found Yahoo360.  I joined up on the 7th of October 2006.  I copied all my entries from Blogger.  I loved 360! I was made an official interesting page in the month of November!!

Then of course it all began to go horribly wrong.  You all know what I am referring to... lost blogs, slow, slow, slow, inability to comment on friends blogs, not receiving comments etc....... It was time to find somewhere new to go.  It was my friend Larry aka Dutch who lead me first to Multiply.  I joined up on the 27th of September 2007.  I didn't think I would like it at first.  I used it as a kind of back up to 360 and I copied all my old posts over.

For ages, I still blogged at 360 and then copied and pasted to Multiply.  Yahoo got progressively worse and more and more of my 360 friends were at Multiply, so sadly I took the decision to make Multiply my primary site.  Initially, I copied the entries to 360, but then in August this year I took the decision to no longer post at Yahoo.  The site is still open and I have just a couple of friends left there who I try to call in on occasionally. You can see it here: YAHOO 360.  Now of course I really love Multiply so much that I paid up my $19 and became a Premium member.  I wouldn't go back to 360 now.

2. How often do you blog? How many times per week, per day? I usually blog every single day. It is rare that I don't and would usually be because I am away and don't have computer access.  I haven't (yet) got so addicted that I take my computer away with me. Some days, I blog once others it could be 6 times!

3. How many blogs do you have? As I already mentioned my Blogger and 360 sites are still open but I don't post to them.  I have one and my 3 Dalmatians have their own Multiply blog also. See it here:  DOG LOG

4. How many blogs do you visit daily? What type of blogs do you tend to visit? Do you always leave comments? I usually try to visit all my friends’ blogs on a daily basis if they have new content.  There are usually about a dozen.  Friends that haven't posted all week, I try to drop in on at the weekend just to say Hi.  I don't always leave comments.  It depends on how much time I have and if the blog has "spoken" to me.  I don't leave a comment just for the sake of it.

I regularly delete contacts that are no longer posting.  I try to keep my list small as I don't have too much time.  My regulars that I talk to most days are Dixie, Connie, Eileen, Bobbie aka Venus and my cousin Wendy.  I have quite a few others that I have been friends with since the beginning, but they blog slightly less often.

5. What is it about blogging that you enjoy the most? What is it that you don't like about blogging? I like the fact that I can say whatever I want to.  It is mine!  It’s a diary of my thoughts and feelings and often helps me to distress and get stuff out of my system! It is also great to look back at and reminds me of what was happening at different times.  I love being able to keep in touch with people too.  The new friends that I have made have been a wonderful bonus.  I have also learnt so much stuff; I don’t even know where to begin.

What don’t I like?  Well not much.  I got really frustrated with Yahoo as did most people.  I hate it when I occasionally lose stuff because the system has timed out.  If I have composed a blog over several hours and it has been left, I have learnt to copy it to Word and then open a new blog post window and paste it back.  That works and nothing is lost.

6. What do you usually blog about? till next time.... HOUSEWORK!!!!  LOL!!  Actually it can be anything and everything.  I have lots of posts about my daily life and what the family are up to.  Then there are lots of photos and videos.  In between I have some jokes and sometimes some serious stuff, even the occasional poem that I have written.  I have music and You Tube stuff.  It really just depends what catches my eye that day and how I am feeling.

I use my blog as a kind of online diary so occasionally I may say stuff that not everyone will like, but hey, it's mine to say what I want. The best thing about blogging is the ability to keep my family and friends up to date with what we are all doing and the really good new friends that have come along.
I have made some really good ones over the last 2 years, most of them from the very beginning.  Yes, you do get weirdo’s on here and when Yahoo made me an “interesting page”, I got about a million weirdo’s a day.  Most wanted to marry me or have sex with me, but only after I paid their air fare!  It's easy to block these people and I never ever replied to them.  The most amusing (and irritating) of all are the ones that seem to think I can speak Arabic or Chinese or some such!  LOL!
