Saturday afternoon was Flynn's first birthday party which was really enjoyed by all. Everyone was there except Saskia who had to work. Ellie and Evan had a great time playing together and were thoroughly wound up by their uncle Josh. Flynn enjoyed himself too I think, once he was given something to eat! The sausages went down well with all the children! It was nice to ses baby Jessica again too. She has already changed in just 2 weeks. She has already gained 13 and a half ounces!
Today we decided to get out in the garden and do a few jobs before the bad weather comes. Snow is forecast here from Wednesday. I don't believe it though! We washed out a lot of our pots and got them all put away. We washed down all the decking and cleared lots of leaves. There were several geraniums that are still flowering so I have put them into my mini greenhouse in the hopes that I can keep them going until next spring.
One of my fuchsia's is still covered in flowers and buds but they will all die as soon as we get a hard frost. We did have frost 2 days last week but it wasn't bad. The fuchsia will survive though as it has the last few years. We moved the rose bushes from Verity's wedding into sheltered spots on the deck against the wall. If need be we can protect them with bubble wrap. I still need to go and cut a few things back if the weather is good enough. It is at least a bit cleaner and tidier out there now.
I hate this time of year. The garden just looks such a mess whatever we do.
This afternoon Simon went to his barn with Sam. I spent the afternoon installing my new family history software and registering with ancesyty.co.uk. I have already located some new ancestors so it seems to be money well spent. We had dinner with Josh and Charlotte before they returned to Bedford. They will be back again next weekend for Sam's 30th birthday celebration.
I watched the "Strictly" results show this evening and was pleased that Felicity Kendal is out. I found her a very wooden dancer and often quite boring to watch. Plus I hated the way she was always screwing up her nose!
It is a quarter to one in the morning. Simon went to bed in Verity's old room about an hour ago because he knew I wanted to do stuff on here. I am getting quite worried. The whole time I have been typing this I can hear banging and crashing from next door. I can't hear voices just loud bonking around. The front door keeps being slammed, at least that is what it sounds like. I am fairly certain that it is coming from the house to the right of us who are neighbours we have had for about 20 years. The other side are new neighbours who we haven't met. Haven't even seen them actually! I don't think it is them though. It is very odd because if it is the neighbours I think, they never make a noise. They wouldn't even be awake at this time of night.
I really hope they don't wake Simon as he gets really wound up by noise and he has to be up early for work. It is actually a bit scary. I don't like it one bit. Something is going on and I don't know what. I want to go downstairs and look out the window but am too scared! Ok I know I am pathetic. Just as well I am not here on my own. I would not cope well if I had to be here alone permanently. I hate being here alone at night even with the dogs. Simon very rarely goes away. Actually I just realised that all this noise is not disturbing my dogs. Even more strange. Goodness I hope they don't start , that will wake Simon up.
I so wish we could move. I mean we don't usually get too much bother round here apart from the noise that we get from the rugby club when they have functions. It would just be nice to be able to move out into a more rural area. A nice quiet country village. One day........dream on.
Talking of dreams it is time I got off here and turned out my lights. I have another busy week coming up and lots to do so I really should try to sleep. Night, night everyone.
