I already mentioned in my DPT that we went up to Stevenage yesterday. It had been ages since I had visited my Mum because I wasn’t well before Christmas. We can’t go anywhere for too long because of Rosie but as Josh was going to be home for a while we decided to fit in a trip.
I can’t bare being at the hospital much longer than an hour so Simon came up with a plan. He dropped me at my sister’s house which is a quarter hour’s drive from my Dad. Then he went and picked my Dad up and took him to Mum at the hospital. My sister normally does this every Sunday. Then Simon came to my sister’s house. We stayed there until about 4pm and then both went to the hospital to see my Mum. Then we were able to take Dad home an hour later so it all worked out.
It was nice to be able to see my sister without children or grandchildren in tow. That doesn’t happen often. They showed me the photos that were taken at my Dad’s birthday celebration before Christmas and also the photos and videos from their cruise in November. It looked fantastic although they went to the Caribbean and the rain followed them! Weird weather everywhere at the moment.
My Mum was fine but I find it more and more difficult each time I see her. Dad was also ok and as usual we came home with various goodies he had got for us including 2 lovely big rib eye steaks which we are having for dinner tonight.
Today did not start out well. We had agreed that for the 3rd day running we would cycle around the park. Why Simon ever thought that it would be a good idea to do this before I had my breakfast I cannot imagine! He gave me my coffee and said the bikes were waiting in the garden! His reasoning was that we were looking after the boys today and had to be at Coralie’s by nine.
So I got dressed and took my grumpy self downstairs to brave the cold. We did the big loop of the park which is one and a half miles and now my tyres have been pumped up I can do that fine. The first day when we cycled in the rain we did the 1 mile route and I had to stop twice! I was so disappointed. Then Simon said he had noticed my tyres were quite flat and that would make it much harder work (don’t ask me why, resistance or some such, the surface area of the tyres in contact with the ground....yes, I did get the lecture!) Why didn’t he say so before? Anyway with them pumped up it is a whole lot easier.
We had a very quick breakfast with me moaning about indigestion and then zipped off round to Coralie’s house. She was very surprised to see us so early. Why? Because she hadn’t gone to work and had completely forgotten to tell me and therefore was not expecting me to turn up to look after the boys! I could quite happily have wrung her neck! So could Simon. Today was his last chance for a lay in before he goes back to work and we didn’t lie in because we thought we had to be somewhere at 9am! Bloody children.
We had a very brief cup of coffee and then as they were about to walk Barclay we ended up going with them. They can’t take him far yet, just up the road and on to the farmland behind the houses. There are sheep there which Evan likes to talk to. We had a pleasant walk except for when Nanny managed to fall over on her bum which Evan thought was a good game! Simon had hidden behind a tree and me and Evan were running (sort of) around the tree to catch him. Evan slipped and as I was holding his hand so did I.............a great laugh for everyone!
As you can see in the photos Flynn enjoyed walking too.
So we ended up back at home by 10am and I had already been for a bike ride and a walk and fallen over! Great day! Actually I do feel more energetic now than normal. Simon went straight off to his barn and will be back at 6pm. He is going to cook the dinner. I have done a ginormous pile of ironing and goodness knows how many loads of washing. I have also begun to get things back in their rightful places. All the Christmas china has been put away and my table has its normal cloth back on.
I have lots to do to get back to normal. Simon goes back to work tomorrow and apparently Josh has decided that he will be going back to his own place on Wednesday. He has Uni work to do and says he can’t work here! I think that may be because he is distracted by his Xbox! Anyhow, hopefully by Thursday I will be home alone once more. I think I might get Simon to help me take down the Christmas decorations this evening. We normally take them down on the 6th which is the traditional day but that means I end up doing it on my own.
So with Simon doing the dinner, my plan for the rest of the day is a bit more tidying up, a bit more ironing and then either some reading or some sewing. Followed by a nice hot bath, with a lovely scented bath bomb and a glass of the red stuff. Normality should begin creeping back tomorrow.
