The Friday Five for May 25, 2007 (copy)

This Friday's Friday Five was suggested by Lisa. Excellent idea given the time of year ... now to put on my thinking cap LOL
The Graduate
1. What year did you graduate high school and or college? What are your memories about it? I left school in 1979 after taking my "O" level exams. I was 16 and couldn't wait to leave. I quite liked school but wanted to go out to work. Actually that's not quite true. What I wanted to do was go to college to do nursery nursing. In those days that was considered to be a job for people of a less academic nature! To cut a long story short my parents and Head teacher were against the idea as they thought I was capable of more! So I just went and got a job instead at the Land registry. I often consider that my parents at that point changed my whole journey through life. I realise this is a longer story and I will tell it in a future blog!
2. Who was your commencement speaker? If you could choose one now, who would you pick? I have absolutely no idea what a commencement speaker is!!
3. What teachers/professors influenced you the most. What would you say to them if you saw them now? I am sure some of them must have influenced me, but I can't remember a particular individual. That's quite sad as I think most teachers would like to think that they have had some influence.
4. Embarking out in the real world is always a little scary. Has your life followed the path you thought it would? In some ways yes and in others no. I think I always knew that I would be a stay at home Mum, just like my own Mum was.

5. How would you have done things differently? I would have taken that college course and qualified in child care. Then I would have gone off travelling for a year or so, then come home and worked before settling down. That would have meant that I would never have got together with Simon though and that is inconceivable! I love my life and my family and my husband and I think all things considered it has worked out really well for me. I do wish that I had studied more though, but I do try to learn new things.
As always to play it's all quite simple: copy the questions in your blog, comment here on The Friday Five with the link to your blog (or if you need help just comment here and I'll find your link for you) and I'll put the link to your answers on the blog.
Have a Happy and rather nostalgic Friday and a SAFE Memorial Day weekend !!!
