The photo a day challenge or Jilly's photo thingy

Ok I said I would have a think about the photo challenges and I have thought! Lots of hard work thinking you know!  Here is what I have thought......

As I already explained, I began this in October after seeing it on blogger where they were doing it for 1 month.  I pinched their list and had a go because I thought I would enjoy it.  Pam joined me and we both liked it so I did my own list of 30 for November which lots of you have joined in with.

So far so good.  However there are some among you who are pressurising me to turn it into a Multiply Group.  I have had lots of email and personal messages about this. Some of the messages have been really quite rude and frankly nasty which I do not tolerate.

The main reason for this seems to be that some of you are having trouble finding who has posted an entry.  (hate that word entry, sounds like this is some kind of competition which it most definitely is not)

I have tried to address this issue in 2 ways.  Firstly by publishing a list of known participants and secondly by reminding people to drop the link to their page.  However some people find it time consuming  and a bit of a phaff to have to do the link thing...me included.  Some of you have said that the list of names only takes you to the home pages which is absolutely true.  But from there it is but one little click to find the blog. I can't really see that this is a problem.

Another issue is that  of blogs that are only open to friends. To my knowledge most people have these posts open to all but if they haven’t well that is their choice and you will not be able to see their entry unless they are a friend of yours.

Ok... on to the idea of a group.......... to be quite honest I really have no inclination to do that. I think a group would involve me in work that I don't have time for or want to do. Call me lazy if you want but I don't want to get involved in administering a group. I know they often fold quite quickly anyway. I just want a fun activity for myself and if others want to join in, then great.

I also feel that a group would probably lead to just the kind of problems that are already occurring with people not happy about something or other.  I haven't time to be worrying about that.  I just want to do my own thing.  As it is I am already having to spend time on answering messages.  Really, if you  don't like it the best answer is don't join in.  Problem solved.

I have been told that there are others who would like to join in but don't want to because the organisation is poor and without an official  page to  connect to they have been put off.  That's a shame.........for them, not me.  I'm not after seeing how big a number of people I can get to do it; I'm just happy if people enjoy it.

So look, basically it is like this, for the time being I am enjoying doing this and I already have a list ready for December.  I will continue with it for as long as it holds my interest regardless, even if I am the only one doing it.  If you want to join in with it great.  If you don't, for whatever reason, well then don't.  Simple.

There are a gazillion properly organised photo groups on Multiply that may be more suitable for those not happy with the Daily Challenge.
