Things to be Grateful for.

Today’s list of things to be grateful for or appreciate:
1.   My family; my husband, my beautiful children, my wonderful adored grandchildren and my crazy dogs.
2.  My extended family, Mum, Dad, Julie, all my Aunts, Uncles and Cousins.
3.   The roof over my head, and that it is paid for.
4. That Simon has secure employment.
5.  That Samuel continues to be working a full week when most of the rest of his company are on a 2 day week.
6.  Central heating and fleecy pyjamas.
7.  I can buy food and clothing for my family, and still have enough left over to pay for non essentials.
8. Breakfast in bed this morning as always.
9.  My lovely new shiny Kenwood Chef which is giving me so much fun and pleasure.
10. My blog and for my daily interaction with you all.  Without it, my insanity quotient would be off the scale!
11. Time for all my hobbies.
12. Wonderful, lovely scented stuff for my bath.
13. I have all five of my senses.
14.  Books and public libraries, so we don’t have to buy everything we want to read.
15. I have done most of my Christmas present shopping.  I even have everything wrapped up now.
16. I have finished my snowman and he looks great.....photos coming soon!
17.  Not having to do anything I don’t want to. I have a lot of freedom in my life.
Things I have laughed at today.

I reckon he is just checking out his Multiply before he goes to sleep!
Things I want to do
1.     I need to clean the glass wardrobe doors in my bedroom.
2.     I need to order some ink for my printer.
3.     De-clutter the cupboard on the hall landing.
4.     Post some eBay parcels.
Things I’ve done for others:
1.    Everyone’s ironing.
2.    Matching Simon’s shirts up with suitable ties so they are ready to go each morning.
3.    Printing out Saskias course work and checking it over for her.
There are so many more things I am thankful for.  I could go on all week long and maybe I will.  But there is something that struck me recently that I want to share with you.  We are officially in a recession.  People are getting laid off left and right.  Pensions and retirement funds are going down the drain.  Times are hard.  But for those of us who have all of the things I've already listed, we are very fortunate, even though we may be hurting. I want us to remember that there are others for whom this is hurting way more.  The world is still full of homeless and poor people.  And if we have it rough, just imagine how much harder this is on them.

Please, I ask you, list all of the things you are grateful for and then consider helping someone less fortunate than yourself. I am not asking you to take a homeless person into your home.  I am not asking you to perform miracles.  What I am asking is that you go out of your way just a little to help make a difference for someone else, for the rest of the year.  Whatever that might mean.  There are so many ways to help.
Keep in mind that old saying “There is always somebody worse off than yourself.”  I try to remember that but it isn’t always easy, that is why these “Grateful” blogs are so good.  They remind me of everything that I have and to quit moaning!
