Hmmmm, OK my resolve to be here a bit more this week hasn’t worked out so far! I am afraid that I seem to have a bit of a “Blog block” going on. I can’t seem to get enthusiastic, although I have been dropping by on my friends to say hello and maybe leave a comment.
The trouble seems to be that all I talk about is housework and how little, or how much, I have done. All the other things I think of to blog about, I have either done before or someone else has done recently. I’m not much into jokes. I have the odd “funny” on here but it’s not really what my blog is about. I do enjoy reading everyone else jokes though.
As you all know I do enjoy a good “rant” but I can’t even get enthusiastic for one of them and that is despite the fact that I have had several good rants to Simon over the last week! They have mainly been concerning house work crimes committed by errant children! Can’t be bothered with the details now!
I think I need some sun! This nasty cold weather is getting me down. I don’t “Do” cold. I can’t believe that I was stupid enough on Monday to comment that some proper snow would be good for once! We had about half an inch on Monday, today we have about 8 inches! It is the worst snow we have seen in the 22 years we have lived here! Even Simon’s school was closed today and school closures here are unheard of!
The whole issue of school closures has been causing a bit of contention. Is it the right thing to do, or should schools remain open? I understand that for some schools the staff may travel in from far flung places but it still seems like a bit of an excuse. Double up on classes for goodness sake! After all the chances are half the children will skive of any way. The children can’t get there? Hmmm.....likely story! But if they can’t, well what is the problem? It solves the problem of not enough staff doesn’t it?
Health and safety issues? Pull the other one. If the little darlings can injure themselves on the snow and ice on the school grounds then they can surely injure themselves playing out in the street in the snow and ice.
Are you sensing that I think this is all a load of stuff and nonsense? It’s just a big freebie day off. Think back to your own school days.......did your school ever close due to bad weather? I know mine didn’t. Simon lived in Yorkshire as a child and had a 4 mile walk to school. He can remember walking through huge snow drifts, many feet high and when he arrived the school would be open. We are all just so soft today. Put on your hat, scarf, gloves and wellies and walk there!
There, that was a lovely rant, I feel so much better now! I just needed a bit of subject matter. Apologies to Wendy and Helen who are probably aiming snowballs in my direction right now! LOL. You won’t get me; I’m not stupid enough to go out in this weather!
Ok, rant over, where was I? Oh yes, no blogging inspiration. I think I need to review where my blog is going. Even I am getting fed up with chronicling my housework. I am even fed up with some of the memes that I do such as Tuesday Thirteen, Friday Five, Picture Perfect etc... I need to have a think and come up with some new ideas. Maybe I will focus more on our allotment and growing things and then of course there is my new frugal, thrifty living. Maybe I should shift my focus more to those things. We shall see. I may be around tomorrow if I have something to say. All you teachers and school staff get back to school and no throwing snow balls as you pass my house.
