1. Dogs. I have always adored dogs and longed to have one when I was a child, but was never allowed. We got our very first one just before we got married. An Irish (red) Setter named Buick.
2. Dalmatians. This one is obvious, isn't it! I have loved Dalmatians since watching Spotty in the Wooden Tops TV programme when I was a child. I fell in love with Spotty. Simon got Rosie for my birthday in 1995, we chose her together. We now have Rosie, Loulou and Alfie.
3. Debbie Smith. Or Debbie Parry, as she was when we first became friends. We have been best friends since school and she is responsible for Simon and I being together, because it was Debbie who gave him my telephone number. We rarely see each other now as we live in different places but I know I can still count on her.
4. Daughters. Another obvious one! I have 3 beautiful daughters who mean the whole world to me. Coralie, Verity and Saskia.
5. Diamonds. What girl doesn't like diamonds? My engagement ring has a full carat diamond solitaire. LOL ... Simon must have had some money in those days!
6. Donny Osmond. Yes, I was a real Teeny Bopper and Donny was my favourite. I had everything in purple (Donny's favourite colour) and I was going to marry him one day! Actually, thinking about that, maybe it's Debbie's fault that I didn't.
7. Dreams. I know that they say you dream every night and Simon quite often tells me what he has dreamt about, but I more or less never remember my dreams which really annoys me. I do day dream a lot though, especially whilst invigilating long exams!
8. Do B4U die list. I have fairly recently started one of these lists. Coralie got Josh a book at Christmas called 101 things to do before you die and it got me thinking about what I want to do. I may post it on here soon, although it doesn't have that much on it yet.
9. Disney. I love all things Disney. My favourite film is 101 Dalmatians, no surprise there. I love all the Disney cartoons though and especially like Winnie the Pooh. We have been to Disney in America and in France. In fact as Saskia was a dancer for Disney we have been to Paris Disney loads of times. It was a real thrill to see my daughter dancing in the shows. We are so proud of her.
10. Daisies. I love Daises, the kind that grow as weeds in the grass and the bigger ones that you grow in flower beds and put in vases. I used to love making Daisy chains when I was a girl and we used to have competitions to see who could make the longest. We used to make Daisy rings too and pull off the petals, counting at the same time ... "he love me, he love me not, he loves me"....... etc.
11. Domesticated. I think I am a very domesticated person. I love nothing more than being at home and getting on with my stuff. Providing that I am not under pressure I quite enjoy all the domestic chores.
12. Dirty Dancing. One of my favourite films, remember Patrick Swayze dancing on that log?
13. Dance. Dance has been a real part of my life and that of my children. As a child I had ballroom dancing lessons and ballet and tap lessons. I only gave up when I was 17. I don't think I had Saskia's talent but I did enjoy it.
All of our children except Sam had ballet lessons from the age of 3. Yes, that includes Joshua! He is going to hate me for telling you all that! He was watching Saskia one day and kept getting up and standing at the edge of the floor and trying to copy. Pat, the teacher encouraged him to join in and he liked it so much that he started going too. He even passed his primary and Standard 1 exams! Bless.
Coralie and Verity went for much longer and took various exams but both reached a point where they wanted to stop. Saskia, of course was born dancing and has simply never stopped. She passed all her exams in Ballet, Tap and modern Jazz, went to college and became a professional dancer. We have travelled all over including various foreign countries to watch Saskia perform.
So as you can see dance has always had quite a large place in my life, one way or another.
