Tuesday Thirteen

Today's thirteen should be things that mean something to me beginning with the letter "Q". Well, surprisingly, I couldn't think of any!! In fact I had a hard job even thinking of 13 words beginning with Q!! I did eventually though and I have listed them. As I couldn't do "Q", I thought I would give the letter "R" a go, but I didn't get to thirteen with that either!! As usual they are in no particular order!!
1. Rosetta stone. A place in the New Forest where we used to have a family picnic each summer. We went there for the family picnic on the 1st of august 1982, when I was already about 10 days over due with my second pregnancy. We had only just arrived for the picnic (Against my midwifes advice as it was several hours drive from home!!) when we had to turn around and go home as I was in labour. We never did make it back to the city hospital where I was due to go! Instead Coralie was born at the cottage hospital in Sidmouth.
2. Roses. I love roses but prefer to see them in the garden on bushes rather than in vases as they don't seem to last indoors. I like pink and yellow ones rather than the traditional red.
3. Rosie. My first Dalmatian. She is 12 years old now and as faithful as ever.
4. Red setters. My very first dog was a Red (Irish) Setter. He was called Buick (Simon named him .... don't ask!!) We lost him many years ago now but I still think of him often. He was just the best and I loved him so much. I had longed for a dog all through my child hood, so he was a dream come true when we finally got him just before we got married. He was so handsome. I keep promising myself that I will scan some photos to put in my blog but as always I don't seem to find the time.
5. Razwan. Dear Raz was a boyfriend of Saskia's some years back. After his Dad had to go abroad Raz came to live with us. It was only supposed to be temporary until his Dad came back. It meant he didn't have to change schools in the middle of his GCSE year. As it turned out his Dad didn't come back and Raz lived with us for nearly 4 years. He is in his final year at Derby University now.
6. Rings. I love rings!! Diamond ones or just plain old costume jewellery ones.
7. Reading. One of my favourite things to do. There is nothing like curling up with a good book. I have been a book worm since childhood. I always read before going to sleep.
8. Rosemary. Not the herb, although I quite like that with roast lamb!! Rosemary Sargeant was my very first best friend at primary school. Her Mum was also our class teacher!
9. Roes. Sounds a bit strange this one, but I adore cod roes on toast!!!
Well there you go, I could only come up with 9 this week, but there is my list of 13 words beginning with "Q"
1. Quite
2. Quiet
3. Quins
4. Quads
5. Quaint
6. Quintessential
7. Queen
8. Queer
9. Quail
10. Quasi
11. Queue
12. Quash
13. Quango.
I am quite impressed with that list!!!!
