Entry for 22 January 2008

Just let me know if ANYONE tries to mess up your day...
I got you Covered!!!!!!
That's what I need a faithful dog to cover my back!! I have been busy as usual. Sunday was spent doing shopping, house work and then relaxing with my sewing. I did manage to get myself up to date with everything ready for Monday.
Yesterday, I was in school. I had not been looking forward to it at all. My fears where well founded. The organisational skills of the woman who is covering for Jacky ( exams officer, who left at Christmas) are about zero! I can't even be bothered to detail the whole fiasco, so lets just say it was a shambles from beginning to end. A little clue.... she had put two row "F" and two row "G"n on the seating plan; and as she laid out the hall herself (obviously with only one row of each) we didn't know this. It only became apparent when lots of children started claiming someone was already in their seat!
The venue was also very, very cold and we complained to no avail. At the end of the exam a man from the Company called Ecovert, who are in charge of maintenance, came along to test the temperature. I have never spoken to this man before and when I approached him, he gave me the filthiest of looks, up and down, and then just ignored me. This developed into a row as I challenged him and called him a very rude man! I can't bare rudeness.
To cut a long story short, I walked out at lunch time. Today, I am letting them get on with it. I will probably do the same tomorrow. Simon told them this morning that I didn't feel up to it. I am considering if I shall go back at all. I have done exam invigilating for over 5 years and it has served me well as a source of extra income and some social interaction with adults.
However, since the new school opened in September things have not been the same. I really don't like the sheer size of the new school, I think it is too big. It means that everywhere you look, there are staff and children, but you have no idea who they are. Then as I said, the exams officer Jacky bailed out at Christmas and her assistant has taken over. She will probably be given the job eventually.
I don't like her and don't really get along with her and I cannot stand her lack of organisation. She doesn't seem to have a clue. She said the mistake with the seating plan occurred because she was doing it at home at one in the morning. She can't be coping if she is taking work home. Anyway, all of this means that I think it is probably time to call it a day and move on. Simon is more than happy about that and in fact is encouraging me. We shall see.
So today, I have been at home when I wasn't expecting to be. I have done all the normal house work, entered some competitions (got to win a prize again soon) and I have just had my coffee and some lunch. This afternoon, I may do a bit of "Bobs" embroidery. Before, I do though I am going to have a quick sort through our wardrobes to take some stuff to the charity shop. I think I have persuaded Simon that if you haven't worn it for 5 years, you probably aren't ever going to!!!
