Entry for 19 January 2008

Just a quick blog as I am quite busy again. Yesterday I was in school invigilating. It was a medium size exam, with 90 year 11 students doing GCSE chemistry. It went fine. Afterwards we got the hall set up ready for Monday morning. As well as the re-sits and "A" level exams going on next week, the school (in their wisdom) have decided to do "mock" SATS!!! These will be big exams that we have to invigilate along with everything else. I really can't quite believe that they want to do "mocks" for SATS!!!! What a pain.
It means that I will be in all day, every day next week. I am really not looking forward to that as I know that I will get stressed out as all my housework will get behind. Also it means that I can't get up to see my Dad and visit my Mum. I always feel guilty about that.
Last night we went over to Sam and Lisa's house. Lisa was working and Sam wanted me to look after Ellie so he could get on with decorating his and Lisa's bedroom. Simon gave him a hand wall papering. Lisa has decided not to go back to full time work and for the time being she has got a job as an assistant restaurant manager, working a couple of evenings a week and one weekend shift. This means that there are no child care costs as Sam looks after Ellie when Lisa is at work.
Since they moved to their new house at the end of October, they have decorated Ellie's nursery and the spare room , which is an office / study. Now they have just got started on their own room. They had to have the ceiling re-plastered before they could begin. They really are working hard to get the place straight. Sam was determined that he was going to get the wall paper finished last night, despite having to be up really early for work this morning.
Ellie was a little angel while her Daddy and Grandad were decorating. We played with all the toys in her bedroom and had great fun. She is a very fast crawler now and pulls herself up on absolutely everything to stand. I think she will walk early like her Dad. She was very funny because she kept crawling over to her changing unit and pulling herself up, then she was pulling the nappy bags out of the box! When I said "Ellie, what Are you doing? NO! " She just turned and grinned at me and carried on, she looked like she was saying, "I am so cute"!
We went downstairs to watch Eastenders (can't miss that!) I kept her happily amused by putting my handbag in the middle of the floor with the zip just open and she amused herself by emptying out the contents. She particularly likes mobile phones.
After Eastenders we played for a while longer and she was getting really tired. She took her bottle from me and then she let me change her and put her baby-gro on ready for bedtime. We were just having another little game when her Mummy came back. She was so sweet and obviously pleased to see Mummy! She went to sleep the minute Lisa put her in her cot!
Today, Simon has been at his barn all day, playing cars. I have been busy catching up on all the house work, washing, ironing, cleaning, hoovering etc, etc.... I have got most stuff done that I wanted to but there is still plenty to do tomorrow. I want to make sure that I am as organised and up to date as possible before next week.
I have also manged to fit in a couple of blogs and I have entered lots of competitions too. Some Internet ones and some postal ones. I reckon it's about time I won something. My last win was the bread maker before Christmas. Actually that is something else that I have done this afternoon. I made a crusty white loaf which I just got out of the tin 10 minutes ago when I made my coffee. I am waiting for it to cool a bit more and then, as I didn't have any lunch, I may have a slice. It's really yummy when it's warm.
When Simon gets back we are going to pop out to Tesco's as we need to stock up on a few things. Simon has said he will do dinner tonight. I intend to sit and get on with the embroidery that I am doing for "BOB" I may possibly go out for a drink with a friend later too. Right that's it, as Simon is back and we need to get sorted!
