This weeks Tuesday Thirteen, follows on from last weeks. It's another easy one. My favourite musicals. I love Musicals, so it was quite hard to choose just 13. Here we go,
1. Jesus Christ Super Star. I saw this many years ago when I was much younger and I still love it today.
2. 42nd Street. A really good old fashioned musical. Many years back both Simon and Saskia performed in this with PMAD'S, a local amateur dramatic society. Saskia spent ages helping her Dad learn to tap dance!!
3. Cabaret. Another favourite which Simon performed in with another local amateur group. He even had lines in this one and a tiny bit of solo singing!
4. Chicago. I just love this. The film version with Catherine Zeta Jones, Renee Zellweger and Richard Gere was good too. I admired Mr Geres dancing but the singing left a bit to be desired!!
5. Bugsy Malone. A wonderful show with brilliant kids! All of my children except Sam performed in this with PMAD'S at the Key theatre.
6. Oklahoma. Another good old fashioned musical with some fantastic songs. I like the "Surrey with the fringe on the top".
7. Lion King. A modern musical, but very good none the less.
8. Greece. What can I say? Who doesn't love Grease, it has the best songs ever. The film version with Olivia Newton John and John Travolta is also a classic. We took our children to see the stage version in London years ago and they were enchanted. It's the only time we took them all to London to see a musical. Coralie and Saskia have gone a few times since and Saskia herself has performed in London theatres, but Verity is the real conousire, she loves going to see shows in London. Grease is also another musical which our children have performed in and Saskia has done it so many times I have long since lost count.
9. Joseph. Simon and I saw this in London when Jason Donovan was the lead. It was very, very good. I love every song in this show. In her last year at primary school, Coralie's class teacher, Brian Blair, had his class perform Joseph for the end of term play. Coralie had the part of the narrator. I was so proud of her. I also have the DVD of the show when Donny Osmond played the lead and that is really good too.
10. Les Miserables. An epic! The songs from this are just brilliant. The story quite sad.
11. Cats. Who can forget "Memory!?
12. Rocky Horror Show. This is just so over the top and quirky, with brilliant songs. Own up, who has never done the Time Warp?
13. West Side Story. One of the loveliest, most moving stories ever. This taught me what Romeo and Juliet was really about! The song Tonight is a real favourite.
