As you can probably tell, although it is nearly midnight, I am still wide awake as usual. Simon has taken his head ache downstairs to sleep in Verity's room which is now a spare room. He didn't want to have to try and sleep in here with the light on and me tapping away.
Anyway, I have been looking up the meanings of our families names. Here is what I found:
Simon. Hebrew; meaning listening.
Gillian. (My real given name that I have never ever been called in my life!) Latin; meaning down-bearded youth!!!
Samuel. Hebrew; meaning "His name is God".
Coralie. Greek; meaning maiden. The website I used claimed that in 1880 there were 974 Coralie's in England but the name went into decline from that point onwards.
Verity. English; meaning Truth.
Saskia. Dutch; meaning N/A!!! The website says N/A which I take it means they don't know what it means. Perhaps a Dutch person can tell me?? Another web site says it is Saxon and means people.
Joshua. Hebrew; meaning God rescues.
Coralie and I were talking about names today and I said Iris (my Mums name) was Greek in origin. Coralie thought I may be wrong, so this one is just for you Coralie!
Iris. Greek; meaning rainbow. Iris was the ancient Greek messenger goddess who rode rainbows between heaven and earth to deliver messages from Olympus.
See, Mummy is always right Coralie!!!!
OK, now I have done that little bit of research, which may or may not be right; I am going to go to bed and read one of my new books for a while in the hope that I may eventually fall asleep.
Night, night, sleep tight, don't let the bed bugs bite.
