I’m playing catch up again! The weekend has been sort of busy and until last night I really still did not feel well. I finally took some different tablets (Codis instead of Sudafed) and that seemed to do the trick. My headache has gone. I am not 100% yet though. I still have the dregs of a cold hanging around.
It is bitterly cold here in Peterborough. Minus six at midday today! We haven’t had any snow though. I think we must be just about the only place in the country that hasn’t. I hope it stays that way! We had a very hard frost over night and once the fog cleared a bit today the trees looked incredibly beautiful. I was going to take a photo but just ran out of time. Maybe tomorrow.
The weekend was spent in putting up the Christmas tree and catching up on a bit of house work. We were supposed to have gone to Stevenage yesterday to go to the hospital Christmas party for my Mum. We didn’t go in the end because the weather up there was dreadful. Freezing fog was predicted here too. Plus we had hoped that Josh would be home to look after Rosie as we don’t like to leave her. Josh didn’t make it home until last night in the end. He had got stuck in the snow between Milton Keynes and Bedford. He is here safe now. We just have to get Saskia on Christmas Eve so we are hoping that the weather will improve.
We had a lazy evening yesterday. We sat and watched the film “Angels and Demons”. It was very good but not as good as the book. I have read all 5 Dan Brown books and really liked them despite initially thinking that it wasn’t my kind of thing when the Da Vinci code came out.
There is a story there....... Josh asked what I wanted for Christmas and I said a book. He said what kind and I said anything “chick lit” IE women’s easy reading! He asked how he would know if something was “chick lit” so I told him to get something from the best seller list that had a pastel coloured cover probably decorated with flowers and butterflies and lots of pink. You know what is coming........... He got me the Da Vinci code! Boys!
Today we have been doing house work. Simon had planned on going to his barn but it was too cold even for him. We have mostly caught up on everything now. I still have presents to wrap and we need to do the big food shop which we are planning on doing after dinner tonight as hopefully the supermarket will be calmer by then. We called in to the shops on the way back from Coralie’s this morning because we wanted milk and we couldn’t park the car!
We went to Coralie’s for a short while as she is having our snowman at her house this year. Remember the snowman? We made him a few years ago and he has a small present inside for each person. The only time we will all be together is Christmas day afternoon at Coralie’s which is why she has got him. I took some video while we were there so you’ll be able to see him.
Anyway, on to the photo challenge. I have got to do 3 again! Sorry! Saturday was: 18. Your Christmas tree.
At least it prompted us to finally get it up! As you can see it is a mish mash of ornaments collected over many years. No coordinated colour scheme here!
Sunday was: 19. Something white.
Everyone seems to have gone with a snow theme for this one except one friend who showed his white dab radio and another friend who showed her white bra! I am going with a photo of me and Loulou. She is white! I could use the same photo for today’s theme too, Christmas decorations! As you can see someone thought it would be funny to decorate me!
Today’s theme is: 20. Your Christmas decorations.
We usually have decorations hanging from the ceiling but they are all very old and tatty and we really need some new ones. We decided against it this year. So the tree and our cards and some tinsel are as good as it gets. I do have some very special ornaments for tomorrow though.
The themes for the coming week are:
21. Favourite Christmas ornament.
22. Your Christmas food.
23. A kiss. (Suggested by Nancy)
24. Christmas eve.
25. Christmas day.
26. Boxing day.......St Stephens day to you Merikans.
27. Your favourite Christmas present.
Have a good evening and keep warm.
