Can you cook. The latest meme thats doing the rounds.

Can you cook? If yes, do you like to cook?
Of course!  I am a married mother with 5 children and 3 grandchildren and you ask can I cook!  LOL!  It’s essential! I had cookery lessons at school where I learnt some basics.  At home I only really did cake baking.  Then I got married..... I learnt everything I needed to know pretty quick.  Do I like cooking?  Mostly!  The day to day stuff can become a bit of a routine but I do like doing different stuff and trying different recipes.
When do you eat with your whole family?
The whole family is mainly just Simon and I and we usually eat dinner together off trays in the living room in front of the TV.
What do you eat for breakfast? You all know by now that I always get my breakfast in bed, 365 days of the year.  Simon brings me some kind of egg and toast.  Usually scrambled eggs but sometimes fried and sometimes boiled.  On Saturday and Sunday there is usually bacon too.
When, where and how do you eat on weekdays?
Breakfast is about a quarter to eight as Simon brings it up just before he leaves for school.  I very rarely eat lunch unless I happen to be out. Dinner is usually at 6pm which is the time that Simon gets in from work and he likes his dinner to be ready as soon as he gets home.  We have traditional roles in our house, LOL!  All these meals are eaten at home.  We don’t often go out on weekdays.
How often do you eat out (in a restaurant)?
It varies considerably.  At least once a month sometimes it might be twice in 1 week.  Average I guess is once a month.
How often do you order delivery/take-out?We do have take away Chinese about once every few weeks.  We never really have any other kind of take away. Simon would probably have an Indian but I’m not keen on that at all and as for pizza.... I can make better myself.
Regarding no. 5 and 6: Say there weren’t financial reasons would you do this more often? Probably not as it would get boring.  We like to cook and can often do a better job ourselves.
Are there any “standard dishes” you serve regularly?Yes. Roast chicken, fish pie, lasagne, Shepherd’s pie, and beef stew,
Have you ever cooked for more than 6 persons?Yes. LOL.  I had 5 children so every meal was for at least 7 people!  There are even more of us now when we all get together.  I often let all the others do the hard work now for big meals!
 Do you cook every day?
Yes.  We need to eat every day!
Have you ever tried recipes from blogs?Yes, I love new recipes and those posted by my friends are great sources of inspiration.  One of my successes was an American dish of rice and beans.  It’s great.
Who cooks more frequently at your home?
Me. Simon does breakfast but I do dinners. He will sometimes cook Sunday dinner.  When the children were younger he did a lot more cooking. He is very good.
And who cooks better?
I have got to say me!  Simon is a good cook although he can sometimes do weird things!  His mother was a very bizarre cook so he must have retained some of her habits! We both have our specialities!
Do you cook totally different compared to your mother/parents?Yes. My Mum did basic meat and 2 veg meals and that was pretty much it.  She wasn’t adventurous but then I don’t think her generation were.  She would also often cook at least 2 different meals as 1 of us (probably me!) didn’t like the main meal.  To this day I think it was her that made me so fussy!  I would never have done that for my children. You ate what was on offer or went without.  I am not fussy now, I eat pretty much anything.
If yes, do you nevertheless eat at your parents?I haven’t had a meal at my parent’s house in some years due to my Mum no longer being at home.  I always enjoyed the meals we had there very much.  She did a great roast dinner.  She did however virtually incinerate steak!!
Are you a vegetarian or could you imagine being one?I am a carnivore through and through.  Must be due to my Dad being a butcher so good meat was a staple of my childhood.  I could never be a vegetarian although when I think about the animals I feel sad!  I try not to think about it.
What would you like to cook which you haven’t dared to make yet?I actually can’t think of anything!  If I fancy giving something a go then I do.
Do you prefer cooking or baking?
I am not sure I know the difference!  Do you cook a cake or bake a cake?  I cook and I bake!
What is your greatest misery in the kitchen?Getting pots and pans out of the lower unit.  I have to get on my hands and knees to reach into the back. Drives me crazy.  I need some pull out basket thingies.
What do you dislike? There isn’t much that I don’t like.  I am not much into Indian spices although I can eat it if it is very mild. I don’t really like melon and I can’t bear tomatoes to be cooked!  They must be fresh.  I can have them cooked in a dish but not cooked and served as a soggy hot mess.  Yuk!
