The daily photo theme for yesterday, 24th of February was: 24. Something abstract. Yes, I know I am late again! I have to state right here and now that I am not good with the concept of “abstract”. I like order in everything.
The dictionary definition of abstract is: well there are lots! It does of course have different meanings. What it means to me is something that is random, has no form, and follows no known pattern.
I remember years ago before we were even married, Simon took me to one of the big art museums in London, the Tate maybe, I can’t really remember. It had some cool stuff. It also had some utter rubbish. Stuff that appeared to have been done by a 2 year old. My grandchildren can do better. I remember saying “things” in a loud voice with Simon telling me to hush and people looking at me and frowning!
The thing is, I just don’t get it. There were paintings, abstract ones, I know that because we were in the modern abstracts gallery... anyway.... there were paintings that were just splodges of colour and blobs and maybe a line or 2 across the middle and people were oohing and ahhing! Seriously. They had grand names too, stuff like “study in aqua blue” or “Life and the Universe”. Now these paintings sell for a lot of money so someone is coining it in just for a few splodges and splashes of paint on a canvas. Probably takes all of 5 minutes to do it.
So since today’s theme is abstract and I could do with earning some dosh, I have had a go myself! I did them in “paint” on my trusty computer. They are easily as good as others I have seen. What do you think? Will I be up for the Turner prize next year?
Abstract painting entitled " Consumerism" by GGS.
Abstract painting entitled " The tree of life" by GGS.
Well, I did tell you at the start of this blog that I just hate the whole idea of abstract things! Abstract art is the worst culprit of all in my eyes. It’s really just a whole load of B******s!
Today’s theme which I may or may not get around too as it is already 11pm is: 25. Something you have made.
The themes for the rest of the month are:
26. Something someone made just for you.
27. The last place you visited.
28. Your work place.
I shall post the list for March sometime over the weekend.
Jilly
