Entry for 03 January 2008

I have had a reasonably good day today, my head ache is mostly gone. I say "mostly" as there is still that lingering pressure behind my left eye. I have been able to get some jobs done today though.
The washing machine man came at lunch time and thankfully my machine is now working. It turned out to be a blockage in the pump, which was the only part we couldn't access to check ourselves. It was blocked, not surprisingly with matted dog hair...........plus..... about 15 assorted coins!!!!
I thought I was very careful about checking pockets but obviously not careful enough!  I have however, reminded both Simon and Josh that they should check their own pockets before putting their stuff in the laundry. It shouldn't just be down to me. I know the coins haven't dropped out of my pockets as I don't keep money on me.
The repair man advised running the machine empty once a month on a boil wash to help flush through any blocks. He advised that I did that before I start on the washing mountain. I do occasionally wash cotton bedding on a 60 degree wash and some of the dogs stuff, so I knew this was going to take ages. A wash at 95 degrees in my machine took two and three quarter hours!!
Once I had done that I was able to get started on the washing. I have been doing smelly grubby dog towels first as they were really bugging me. The repair man also used more to mop up the dirty water that leaked when he was draining the machine. If you recall, it went wrong over 2 weeks ago, half way through a load of dog towels and as we couldn't drain it, they have been festering away in there ever since! Nice!
I did also get some ironing done today and I took the Christmas decorations down. This is early for me as I usually wait until 12th night. This is tradition over here. Twelfth night is the 6th of January, Epiphany. It is said to bring bad luck to leave your decorations up beyond that date. I was getting a bit fed up with them though and wanted to start getting back to normal.
I hoovered and dusted some of the living room and will finish it tomorrow. Saskia came over for a while and Simon moved an armchair to her flat, that Coralie had given her. While they were gone I did a shopping list and we went and did the food shopping once they got back.
Simon is over the barn again this evening so I have made a few phone calls, watched Eastenders and had a nice relaxing bath. I am going to enter some Internet competitions when I have finished this.
One last thing before I go .......... Some of you have either missed a few of my blogs or just got plain old confused!!!!  Coralie is pregnant and expecting "Bob" about the end of June.  "Bob is the name of the bump and no indication what so ever of what the baby's sex may be! He or She has not arrived yet!!!!   I can't believe that some of you thought that could have happened without me posting numerous blogs. I will keep you all fully updated!  To recap, it is Coralie who is expecting around the end of June!
