Entry for 16 June 2007 (copy)

Well, I am having a busy, busy day but I have got lots done. Simon is at an exams meeting and won't be back until later. Josh has gone to Leicester to visit a friend, Charlotte is at work and Saskia has been busy in her room. Charlotte is spending the night with a friend as Josh is away over night too. I am sort of hopeful that maybe Saskia will decide that she is going out as well, so that Simon and I can have the house to ourselves this evening! (For once).
I have done masses and masses of washing and ironing, which is all now put away. The last load of dogs towels is waiting to go on. I have cleaned the kitchen and hoovered right the way through from top to bottom. I have even polished the kitchen table!!
Some of you may recall, that just days after we had our new dining set, Alfie managed to get on the table and made some big scratches in the process of getting down. Well the other day I got a little pot of polish. It's called Lord Sheraton's Beeswax and it seems to be helping. This is about the 4th time that I have used it and the scratches definitely aren't as bad.
I shall show Simon how clever I am when he comes in! The plan is to buy a specially made piece of glass to go over the table top to avoid any more scratches. I have taken to having it covered with a table cloth all the time but I don't really like that as I prefer to see the wood.
Anyway, in between jobs I have manged to squeeze in a couple of cups of coffee and a few blogs. I have caught up with many of you as well. I think the best blog of the weekend so far is on JR's page. He says that he didn't write it himself, but borrowed it. Either way it is very good. It is about hind sight and well worth a read.
As a taster, here are 10 hind sights:
#10: Live off your parents as long as possible.
#9 Pursue joy, not happiness.
#8: Challenge the known and embrace the unknown.
#7: Learn to speak a foreign language, play a musical instrument, and play non-contact sports.
#6: Continue to learn.
#5: Learn to like yourself or change yourself until you can like yourself.
#4: Don’t get married too soon.
#3: Play to win and win to play.
#2: Obey the absolutes.
#1: Enjoy your family and friends before they are gone.
Number 1 is a personal favourite for me as it is so true. We should cherish all of our friends and family as we never know how long we will have them for. Remember the saying "You don't know what you've got till it's gone". The thing is, none of us ever know what is around the next corner, so make the most of what you have while you have it.
As you all know my Mum is still very much alive; but mentally she has been taken from me. I have so many things that I wish I had told her while she still understood. Not least, I should have told her more often how much I love her.
Well I'll leave you all to check out the hind sights if you wish. I am going to check out a few more blogs now and in between I am going to install our broadband software on Simon's new lap top. So busy, busy again for a while.
