Loulou

I am just having a quick cup of coffee before I cycle over to Coralie’s house to look after the boys for a while.  I have just taken some photos for the DPT which I will do later.
I just wanted to let you all know about Loulou. She has had a problem with her mouth for a few weeks.  She keeps swallowing and kind of dropping her bottom jaw.  Our vet had attempted to have a look 2 weeks ago when she had her annual injections but Loulou wasn’t really cooperative.
All the vet was able to say was that she has quite a lot of tartar on her teeth.  No surprise really as she is nearly 11 years old. She said if we thought she was worse to take her back.  Well she had got worse.  At the end of last week she had begun to dribble profusely and her mouth also looked odd.  A bit swollen and sort of lop sided so we phoned on Saturday and got her an appointment for the exploratory surgery on Monday.
The outcome was that she had 2, severally infected, back molar teeth which had to be extracted.  It was apparently quite difficult because of the long roots on the teeth!  It took 3 hours.  We were able to bring her home early in the evening.  She was feeling very sorry for herself but she has picked up quickly and is much better today.
It cost us just over £400 which I have just discovered we will almost certainly not get back as the woman at the insurance company said they don’t cover dental work!!!  Can you believe that?  They are going to send me a claim form anyway but she said she doesn’t think it will be paid. I am going to argue about that.  Ok, it’s dental work as in they extracted teeth but it was because of an infection that was making her poorly.  Insurance Companies seem to try and wriggle out of everything.
Here is a photo of my brave girl who should have got a sticker to say “I was a good girl at the vets today!!  Sam called in this afternoon with Lisa and the girls and Ellie very proudly showed me her sticker which says “I am protected from bugs!!  She had her preschool booster injections today.  One in each arm!  Baby Jessica had injections too, one in each leg!
