It’s 11am which means it is time to sit down and kick back with a cup of coffee and do today’s daily photo doodah which is: 12. Your favourite flower.
I LOVE Flowers. All kinds of flowers even some of the weeds are real pretty. What is a weed anyway? It is anything that is growing somewhere we don’t want it to. I love receiving cut flowers too. Hint, hint! Haven’t had any in a while. May just have to buy some for myself.
Talking about cut flowers reminds me of taking flowers in for the teacher when I was small. My Mum and Dad had a lot of different flowers in their garden and in the summer, every now and then, we would be allowed to go into the garden and cut a whole bunch to take in for our teacher. We weren’t trying to be teacher’s pets.....everyone did it. Funny I don’t recall that any of my children did that. Must ask Verity if anyone brings her flowers. I think it would be something that only happens in primary schools and probably only female teachers too. Can’t imagine anyone taking Simon flowers! LOL.
Ok, so I have gone way off topic here. Just having a stroll down memory lane. Back to my favourite flower. It’s hard to pick a favourite as I have about a dozen real favourites but if I really have to choose then it would be a Lily. They come in an amazing variety of types and colours and sizes. I love the big ones that have such showy flowers that just command you to look at them and admire. Funny though that I don’t like their smell. One of the few flowers that still seems to have a scent and I don’t like it! Have you noticed how a lot of flowers no longer seem to smell? Very few roses have a scent nowadays which is because of all the cross breeding and hybrids that we grow now. I have wandered off again.......
This photo is a Lily that we saw at the gardeners world show back in June. It is enormous. The colours are just fantastic and can’t you just see how it is saying “look at me, look at me”. I wish I could rember what it was called. Something Star. We wanted to buy some corms but they didn’t have any left so we got some others that were almost as good. I planted them but they didn’t come up! I think it may have been too late. Hopefully next year. Next year is going to be good. It is going to be a lovely hot summer...it has to be. I AM OWED IT!
Here is the same Lily after I had played around a bit using Picnik.
Tomorrows challenge is: 13. An old holiday snap. I have posted the whole of the challenge list in my notes as you peeps keep asking for it. Copy and paste it maybe so you don’t have to keep looking back here. I have been trying to put the week ahead in my blog as well which I will do tomorrow. I have a list ready prepared for December if we are not all fed up by then. I could do with suggestions for January. You may have all quietly disappeared by then!
