Thursday 2nd December

Time for a quick blog.  I had a busy day yesterday looking after the boys and the new puppy. He is testing out his little baby teeth so poor Flynn is not too happy!  LOL.  Barclay thinks Flynn is a little play mate.  It was a challenge to keep my eyes on all 3 of them.
Simon and I did make it out last night for a meal to celebrate out anniversary.  There hasn’t been any more snow here but never the less the roads are still a bit dodgy and you have to be very careful of black ice. We went to a pub restaurant that we really like called The Stilton Cheese, in Stilton which for all of you I know are going to ask...... no it is not where they make the famous cheese.  They used to but haven’t for many years.  I believe it is actually made in the three Counties of Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire and Leicestershire.
The restaurant is very expensive (by our standards any way) but well worth it.  This is not your run of the mill pub restaurant. Simon had sardine pate and onion relish to start, I had whitebait.  Then Simon had a gigantic rib eye steak with all the trimmings and I had a skate wing with new potatoes and seasonal veg.  I haven’t had skate in years and it was delicious.
We also had an enormous dish of onion rings.  This place does the best onion rings we have ever had ....anywhere!  We actually ended up with 2 portions as Simon insisted he wanted his to himself and I would have to order my own!  The waitress advised that the portions are large and that one would be enough but no we had to have 2.  Guess what?  We couldn’t eat them all!  Simon couldn’t finish his steak either so he bought half of it home for the dogs.  We didn’t have dessert as we were too full up.  It was a really nice meal.
Today has been a bit of a lazy one.  I have done a few chores and wrapped some Christmas presents but other than that not much at all. I think Simon will be going to his barn tonight he usually does on Thursday. I have got a Bolognese ready prepared so I just need to get the pasta on and grate some cheese in about half an hour.
I have been going through my photos and come across a few that you didn’t get to see.  There are a couple here and the rest are in my November family album.  I have added a lot there the last few days.
This was taken late in the afternoon of the 19th of November.  The yellow of the trees was spectacular.
These were taken through my kitchen window again on the 19th of November.
This is Evan helping to wash up!  Again it was taken on the 19th.
I also recently managed to get Simon to take the photos off his mobile.  They are a year old!  There are a few nice ones although the quality isn’t great.
This is Ellie at a play centre back in February.
These rainbow ones were taken as we were driving home along the lanes back in March.
Right, I guess it is time to go and start doing that pasta.
