Sunday 14th of November. Today is remembrance Sunday here in the UK. I shall now have a minutes silence, please observe this with me............................. At the going down of the sun and in the morning, we will remember them.
Today's photo challenge is: 14. Somewhere you regularly walk.
The place that I walk most regularly is in the large park at the back of my house. Our back gate opens directly on to it. You walk over the hill at the rear of my house and you then have the choice of turning right or left.
If you turn right then you will be on what is known as the back path which leads you to Bretton Centre and the shops. The back path because it runs along the back of the houses! There is another path at the front of the houses. In the summer months I usually walk to the shops using the back path so that I can see the trees, the bluebells and the squirrels.
If you turn left the you will be heading directly into the main parts of the park. We used to go here a lot when our children were little. For some years I didn't really walk that way at all. Now of course it is a regular walk with the grandchildren. Ellie likes to continue straight on to the children's playground.
Evan likes to turn off the main path fairly fast and head for the new water park which is just behind our house. It is of course closed now for winter.
So that is the place I walk most often. It is a beautiful park with a lot of very old trees, even a small patch of ancient woodland. The parish council were planning to sell it off and use it for housing but thankfully we have been able to stop that for the time being. No doubt a similar scheme will rear its ugly head at some point in the future. I know we need housing but why do they always seem to take our beautiful open spaces?
Where Coralie is living in her beautiful new house, used to be a pick your own farm. We went there every summer to pick strawberries. They also had sheep there and my children used to love the baby lambs in spring. There is still a small amount of farmland there and in fact when I went to Coralie's the other day I could see animals as I turned the corner. I didn't venture along to see what they were as it was pouring with rain and I was in a hurry. I couldn't figure out if they were miniature horses or pigs, or sheep. I knew they weren't cows. They were sort of spotty! Coralie had a look as she went past in the car and said they are goats. Next time the weather is half way decent and I am looking after the boys I'll take them along to have a look.
Ok, tomorrows challenge is: 15. Sunrise, sunset or night sky.
