Honey I'm home! Most of you know by now that I went on a little trip on Wednesday. I went to Barrow in Furness which is a very long way. I had to get 3 trains! I checked just now and it is 248 miles! It is the furthest north that I have ever been...in the UK!
I went to visit Mickey who some of you know. He lives on Walney Island which is a small island attached to the main land by just one bridge. I had a BRILLIANT time. Mickey is as funny in real life as he is on here. He made me so welcome.
I also got to meet Mickey’s daughter Ellen (some of you know her on Multiply as Miss Babe) she works in the Ambrose where I stayed and she looked after me very well. Then there was Dotty (Vodka Lady) and Pep. Meeting them at Numpty HQ was an experience not to be missed!
This photo is one of Mickeys.
Dotty is lovely and very funny although she did attempt to get me drunk on vodka in the middle of the afternoon! I have never had vodka before; I’m a red wine girl. The vodka was diluted with Irn Bru (a weird drink for northerners) but I was very careful not to have too much as I didn't think Mickey would be able to carry me back to the hotel. LOL!
Actually laughing out loud was pretty much what we did all afternoon. If you go to Mickey’s page you can see a video of this. No we are not drunk...just having fun! AND, I am not checking the Irn Bru bottle for girders; I was interested to find out what it is really made of. Its weird stuff, tastes a bit like lucozade.
On Thursday I got myself over the bridge onto Walney Island where I visited Mickey at home. It is so nice to actually see the places that you have seen so often in photos. I can now picture Mickey sitting at his computer. I was a bit put out though as his photo wall where he has photos of his Multiply friends didn't have one of me!
Once the rain stopped we were able to get in a decent walk along the coast which was brilliant. We saw loads of oyster catchers all lined up feeding. I have never seen that many all at once. I was also able to appreciate for myself just why Mickey is so upset about the wind turbines.
Thursday evening Mickey came over to the main land so that we could have a drink and a chat in the Ambrose. Ellen joined us too and we had a lovely time. Guess what? There was a real Northern football hooligan there too! LOL! It was a fun night.
This is another of Mickeys photos.
All in all I am so glad that I went. It has certainly whetted my appetite for a few more adventures. I think I will have to wait until the spring though.
Thank you Mickey for making me so welcome and making sure that I had a lovely time.
Jilly
