Last week they were out of my favourite butter, Willow, and they substituted it with 3 large tubs of butter spread which is most definitely not butter! This week they were out of Simon's favourite Allinsons wholemeal bread, a bottle of whiskey I had ordered for my Dad and bizarrely Christmas turkeys!
Coralie came over at lunch time with baby Evan and we had a nice time playing with the new toys that my Dad got for him. I have some photos of him that I will post later. He really liked a sort of sit / stand in play station thing that is like one he has at home. Coralie calls it his "mission control station". He wasn't too sure at first but he was ok after he got used to it. It bounces up and down and he liked that.
The time has gone so fast, he will be 6 months old on Christmas eve. He weighs 19lb 10oz and has 5 teeth! He has cut 3 at the top all in the space of a few days with very little trouble. He is so good.
I tried out a new recipe for dinner that worked out quite well. It was slow cooked pork with celeriac and orange. I haven't ever used or tasted a celeriac before. I can tell you they are very hard to peel! The taste is actually quite subtle. To be honest it was quite pricey and would probably have been just as good a dish using swede or parsnip.
Simon has gone to his barn this evening to do car stuff so I am having a quiet evening. Saskia is busy doing Uni work. I am going to try and get on with some sewing shortly but as I said I don't feel 100% so I'll see how I feel later. I hope I am not going to go down with what Simon had. My tummy feels a bit unsettled, but that could just be from having too much dinner. I need to be Ok as I have Ellie all day tomorrow and also Josh is due home from Uni for the holidays.
